This week I made a few new posts to my blog. The daily creates this week were interesting since we were allowed to either follow the ones on The Daily Create, or create a video daily create. I chose not to do any of the video options, as I’m not super comfortable with making and editing videos yet, but I hope to do some next week. I really liked the other daily create options this week, though.
I wrote about my goals for the video portion of this class, and I’m a little skeptical about what I’ll be able to produce in just a few short weeks. I’m not the most creative person, and when it comes to video I always would rather let someone else take the lead. I really don’t even think I can come up with cool ideas for 3 videos. I guess we’ll find out!
I also wrote a response to “The Syncher, Not the Song” by Douglas Wolk. This article was great at explaining how videos become viral, and the idea that it’s not the content (the song) but the creator (who’s in it) that really makes the video a sensation.
I’m looking forward to the the discussion in class tomorrow, because I feel like a lot of people will have comments on some funny or weird videos that have gone viral. I’m also looking forward to seeing how the video we started in class last Wednesday in groups will turn out.
Also, I know in class Wednesday someone mentioned making a video or something at the end of this course to summarize everything we’ve learned and created this semester, which I think would be a really cool idea. Since this is the first time this course has been taught at U of M, I think it would be a great introduction to what it’s all about and how awesome the course is. This is the kind of class that more students should be required to take. I’m learning a lot more about digital tools than I have in any of the other classes I’ve taken in the last 3 years, and I have a feeling what I’m learning here is probably going to be a lot more relevant for the future.
