Video #1

Here it is, my very first video project ever. I decided to do my own version of “bad lip reading” the NFL. I think the original video is hilarious and is well deserving of its 29 million views and counting. I am a HUUGE fan of the work the NFL does with Sound FX mic’ing players and coaches during games. It gives the average football fan a unique perspective of on-field player interactions. As a fan you never really know what is being said on the field as well as the sideline so these productions allow fans like me to gain a new appreciation for the game.

When watching games live, we don’t have the luxury of Sound FX. We usually have to read player’s lips and body language to figure out what they are saying to each other. To me, this video is an average fan’s interpretation of the many on-field antics of players and coaches. Without Sound FX, we have to fill in the blanks ourselves. So this is me filling in the blanks… naturally out of context.

For this video I found four separate Sound FX features: Greg Schiano, Richard Sherman, Dennis Allen, and Brian Cushing. Out of each feature I was able to find a couple of clips that would be useful to voice-over. I quickly realized that the best clips for voice-overs were players on the sidelines because they have their helmets off and are engaging in conversation. I used iMovie to aggregate all of the clips and remove all sound. Then clip-by-clip I did a voice over of words they could have possibly said by trying to read their lips. This was a trial and error process as it would take a while to sync my voice with the players and coaches. For music I used the NFL Films theme that can be heard over any classic NFL highlights.
