“This American Life: Valentines Day 2013” Response

The Valentines Day episode of This American Life provided a collection of crazy love stories from past shows. The show was edited very well as it cut back and forth between past interviews. I personally did not like the host very much. I felt like he was quite boring and could have done a better job engaging his guests. I tend to like radio shows that seem like casual conversations. It just felt like something was missing, maybe a third personality that could interject some liveliness to the conversation. On the bright side the actual stories were fantastic. My favorite was the couple who were in a relationship from 17-30  years old and decided to take a one month break from each other. I found it hilarious that the guy was getting emotionally attached within hours of being with a new girl. I actually laughed out loud when he admitted he couldn’t help himself from saying “I love you” during intercourse with a new girl. I can just picture this guy awkwardly explaining that he and his girlfriend are just taking a break from their 13 year relationship. Overall it was an entertaining show however I believe it could have been even better with a more engaging host.
