This week was a semi-abrupt transition from Audio to Visual. It always seems like just when I’m starting to finally get into one of the topics, we switch!

I loved hearing the speakers from Michigan Radio this week. They were very helpful in critiquing some of our pieces for the class radio show and I was interested in hearing about how they work because I don’t know anyone who works in radio journalism. I think it’s pretty cool and they are very fortunate to be able to do what they do.

On Wednesday I turned in my final 2 pieces for the audio portion of our class! My first one was for the radio show, and it was called The Worst Date Ever. It was about my friend’s worst date ever with a guy, who happens to be Samantha’s friend. FUN FACT: We let them each individually listen to the piece, and I guess I was wrong when I stated there was no chance at them rekindling the flame: he asked her out again, this time to his date party this past weekend, and they hit it off. I guess timing is everything? Samantha and I should probably open a matchmaking service. 100% success rate thus far.

My second piece was about names, because I’m so sick of people messing mine up even though it isn’t complicated. It was fun and I think I enjoyed that more than the class show. BUT, I really did love listening to the whole radio show in class on Wednesday. There were so many funny pieces that I loved hearing. Some people have a lot of creativity and I envy that!

To start off the Visual segment of class, I made one Design Create, and then I finished one of my own choosing. I have a good idea for my own design create next week, so I’m really excited. It will just take me more time to finish than I had for this week. I also read the two readings for this Monday, and I made a response to How Images Think. I know the 10 photo essay is a ways off (sort of), but I’m most excited about that assignment and already have an idea of what I want to do.
