Digital Dynamite
While I knew that our radio show would be great, I was amazed and just how great it was. All of our segments were cohesive and used interesting and proper sound effects. The sewing machine sounds which were recorded while I was sewing on my serger sounded better than I thought that they would. I have to credit Amber$$$$$ for the amazing editing of the show. She volunteered to put the show together and did it quite well. She added some music to our pieces, layering it over the audio that we submitted in a way that it was better than just white noise. While our show was interesting, I found the front half to be a bit unbalanced. My story was rather long at the beginning while others were shorter in the front half. I was confused why my bumper was inserted in the middle of Amber’s story.
Despite a few minor issues I had, most of which were to do with the amount of times I said um and uh in my segments, the show was great and I have to give the show 4.5/5 stars.
Fifth Dimension
I just did not get what the Fifth Dimension was trying to do with their radio show. I have never seen the Twilight Zone before, so the concept was lost on me. To me it was just a bunch of random unconnected bits, including mashups and readings of poetry, which was more confusing than interesting to me. The audio editing was great but the sound was not. The sound seemed a bit scratchy and staticky. This may have been done purposefully for effect, but it was a huge distraction for me. I enjoyed the sound effects and they, along with the music, seemed to contribute greatly to the eeriness of the radio show.
Since I was so confused by the material, it was hard to grade, but I have to give it 4/5 stars.
