So when looking at different assignments that I could do head past two weeks I came across the four star assignment of watching a movie with the stereo on, which is actually something that I have certainly done before. I guess I have just seen every Disney movie so many times that I can afford to miss a line or two. That being said, the hardest part of the project was thinking about what movie I wanted to do and then what song.
I had a lot of different ideas, all involving Disney of course. I think it may be the change in the weather, but recently I have been in a full out swag mood. I’m talking like anytime I am in the car the windows are down and my iPod is playing rap with the bass on +6. I’m completely obnoxious, I know. So I wanted to put a rap song to a Disney Princess movie, but I couldn’t find something that fit. I mulled it over for a few days since I knew I had the time. What was I going to do? I was stuck. So I made an executive decision and decided to go with one of my favorite Disney Princess movies that I haven’t really had the chance to share with you all yet, The Princess and the Frog. I mean seriously, I think I have only done one assignment on this movie and it is a classic go to for me to watch. So I knew what movie I wanted to do, now I just had to think of the song.
It’s like a rush just came to me! I was caught between two songs, The More Boys I Meet by Carrie Underwood and Kiss Me by Sixpence None the Richer. After tons of deliberation I decided to go with the former. The More Boys I Meet has always been a song that I love which is surprising because it’s country-ish and I am no country girl. But the song just perfectly works with it, see for yourself:
The reasons that I decided to go with this song (besides the obvious reason of “kiss that frog” being a lyric) is that it is a very energetic song, much like Disney movies are. I also think that the idea of the end of a chorus being a “twist” is similar to the twist of having Tiana turn into a frog. Another reason it works so well? Carrie Underwood has sung for Disney with her song Ever Ever After being featured in the hit film Enchanted.
As for the producing of this film, it was pretty simple. The hardest part was certainly the timing. Once I found a respectable clip with good quality I really wanted to figure out the best timing. I tried a few different things. I had the kissed that frog clip lining up with real kiss and subtracting times, but I didn’t like where the video started. I really liked having the video start with the book because it starts like a story.
Overall I was happy with what I ended up with, I decided to add the opening credits while the movie was going on because I wanted to keep the timing that I had. I thought this was an interesting twist to the typical opening credits. All of this was made using Windows Movie Maker which is a pretty easy program to use. I simply imported in the movie clip and then muted the video and imported in the music. From there I adjusted the cutting by making the clip longer or shorter depending on the timing of the video.
Thanks for reading!
