So, I decided to base another one of my assignments on a Twilight Zone episode. I again based it on, The Midnight Sun, but only because it was really appropriate for the assignment, in my opinion. I promise I’ll vary it up for my next Twilight Zone related assignments for this week!
So the DS106 design assignment I chose for this project was to make an invitation. It was a pretty broad assignment created by a past DS106er to design an invitation for any event.
I thought it would be fun to create an event for Norma, the protaganist from The Midnight Sun episode, based on her art. So here is what I came up with:
If this were to actually be printed it would be on rectangular cardstock with the left side as the front and the right as the back. The two paintings on the front are color versions of two of the paintings from the episode and the image on the back was the least creepy/sweaty picture I could find on google of Norma.
Although the design is pretty simple I jumped through a few hoops to make this just because I had to keep saving files and then pasting them. First I created the basic template on paint of the orange background which I saved, which I then opened and added the two paintings to and saved; I repeated this process with the image of Norma. Then on pixlr I opened each image individually and added the text and saved each seperately to my desktop. I think opened the collage app in pixlr pasted both in and resized their template. I added a vintage effect to the postcard (I can’t remember the exact name) which I thought brought it all together and changed the b&w of Norma.
The date on the postcard is the date the original episode aired on TV.
