Summary of Week 1’s Assignments

This week’s assignments for Digital Storytelling required me to: Review the syllabus, create a domain, install WordPress, register my blog on the ds106 website, create a Gravatar, set up my social media, and introduce myself with the multimodel introduction blog post.

Overall, I felt pretty confident in completing these assignments throughout the week. I already had a domain because of the Intro to Digital Studies course I took last year, so all I had to do is create a subdomain and install WordPress  and I was good to go. Registering my blog to the ds106 website was pretty straight forward and I’m happy that I have a Gravatar now. The syllabus was well organized, so I felt good about reading it over. The assignment bank is rather intriguing, so I cannot wait to try them all.

For the social media part of the assignment, there wasn’t much for me to do. I already had a YouTube account from a few years ago, a Twitter account, and a SoundCloud account becaus+e of Facebook. All I had to do was create a Flickr account and upload a few images to have my account verified.

None of these assignments gave me much trouble, but I wish I could have done something different with the SoundCloud section of my introductional blog post. Having a microphone would have help increase the quality of that section and the other students taking the course would know more about me since I would be talking and bonding with them instead.

Here is a link to my multimodel introduction incase you  did not see it in the paragraph above.
