Weekly Summary – Week 11

I’ve been super bummed out this week because of the election, so work has been super slow-going. Still managed to finish everything pretty much on time. Making the tutorial put me a little past midnight, but only because the stupid program crashed three times while I was trying to save. Anyways, the stuff I did this week:

1) Daily Creates

Both this week were pretty short text-based creates:

2) Assignment Bank

Three assignments for a total of exactly 12 stars:

  1. The first one was mashing up two video games and creating cover art for them. I mashed up Yoshi’s Story and Dishonored, which make quite an interesting pair.
  2. The second assignment was very similar to the first, but with movies instead of video games. Well, I also added a splash of TV, but still. I turned Star WarsStar Trek, and Battlestar Galactica into the fusion StarStarStar.
  3. Last but not least, I put together the X-Men character Nightcrawler with the totally unrelated semi-noir thriller movie Nightcrawler. They fit together surprisingly well.

3) Remix Assignments

  1. The first remix was the one where I incorporated something I’d made earlier in the course. Through the use of a heavy amount of distortion and blur tools, I managed to make a propaganda poster I’d made into something vaguely like a Jackson Pollock painting.
  2. The second remix was a bit less strange. Try to figure out what the images are!

4) Remix/Mashup Stuff

Only other thing this week was the tutorial for an assignment. I decided to make a tutorial for the propaganda poster assignment. To be specific, I made a tutorial for how to make the edited text actually look like the real text in the original poster. Because the screen capture program I used is actually the worst thing ever, I had to make the tutorial four times before it finally saved correctly. Stupid program made me late.

That’s it for this week! All that’s left is the final project now.
