Two major things I want to say about this class:
- You know when you start the class and hear “don’t wait until the end of the week to start on your work or you won’t finish”? Then you think “oh I’ve put stuff off plenty and I’ve been fine”. Don’t do that. Just don’t. Even if you don’t post anything until Friday, make sure that you start working on stuff way earlier in the week, especially for a media type you’re not used to working with. This class is really fun, but it’s a lot more work that you’re probably expecting. Even if you do wait until the end and somehow manage to finish, the work you make will just be the bare minimum, when you could make stuff that’s way cooler.
- Try to involve things you already like in your assignments. It makes them that much easier and more fun to work on. Throughout the semester, I’ve incorporated a ton of worldbuilding into my projects; hell, my final project was even just worldbuilding and conlanging. You might have to stretch the rules of an assignment, but you’ll like working on it way more and it’ll end up being way better than if you had to work on something you didn’t care about.
