I think for this assignment I would like to redo the opening credits of the movie “About a Boy.” This is another of my favorite movies. I know its silly and predictable at times, but I just love it; it makes me feel happy whenever I watch it.

I can’t find a video of the opening credits on YouTube. But here is a trailier for the movie that I think I could cut or use for still shots of the characters for in my version of the opening credits.

So far my idea for my opening credits is to freeze the trailer clip to on shots of each of the main characters. Then I would like to change the color scheme of each shot to match the colors in the movie poster.  This is the poster.

The main characters of the film are played by Hugh Grant, Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette, Rachel Weisz, Nat Gastiain Tena, and Sharon Small. I would have an image of each of them (with altered colors) and their names in the same font as the movie poster (and in all lower case like the poster). Also I would have the transitions from one image to the next just be them “sliding” of the screen in different directions.

I think I would have one of the sounds from the soundtrack playing with the actors names. This is the song I think would work best.

I think its happy and upbeat, just like the message of the movie. Also, I could loop it if need be because it doesn’t have any lyrics.

I haven’t decided yet, but I might also have still shots of significant scenes in the movie in between the actors names. I could do the same color scheme-ing to these photos as well to make them all cohesive.

Those are all the ideas I have for this assignment as of now. In my head it’s gonna be great, so hopefully that will translate well to real life!
