As Labor day approaches I always get excited about it’s festivities! I love barbecues and parades and the parties it brings with it. It has always been a big family celebration for me. But for some reason (and please don’t judge my not knowing) I have never really known what the true meaning of Labor day was. I had always just marked the day as the end of summer and the beginning of school. (It also symbolizes the end of wearing summer white for all you fashionistas out there!) So of course, Google is my first choice these days when I don’t know something and I came across the Wikipedia site (my number two resource online). Turns out it is exactly what is says…a day to celebrate workers! Turns out Oregon was the first state to accept Labor Day a holiday in 1887. In 1894 it was made a National Holiday on the first Monday of September.
I am one of the fortunate ones who absolutely love their job! I work at an animal hospital and think every day is a day to celebrate what I do. However, having a day off just to celebrate my job is nice So keep working America!
Have a good celebration this weekend yall!
