    This. Is. Storytelling.

    by
What do I associate with the word “storytelling”? Glad you asked! Yupp, that’s Paul Bunyan and Babe! “Once upon a time…” is a phrase I associate with story telling. So, once upon a time, when I heard storytelling, I would think of folklore and other far-fetched stories. However, as I grew up, storytelling turned into telling real-life stories to one another. Stories that became rumors, and those rumors would spread like wildfire. Rumors that would go so far and become the most ridiculous lies, I mean stories, you had ever heard. Jump to the digital storytelling age. What is digital storytelling? Well obviously sharing your crazy drunk stories through texts, … Continue reading

Week Two Summary: I’m ready for a nap.

    by
Let me start by saying, I don’t want to type this right now, but it needs to get done…Just let it be known that I’m taking a nap afterwards. Week Two, you have been full of fun activities but TONS of work. It’s not just DS106, it was my other classes, work, and volunteering. BUT I made it through the week and am finally getting EVERYTHING turned in! Let’s start simple with TDC(The Daily Create). I think I missed a couple days because I couldn’t make it to a computer, however I did make at least 3, as was required. (I do however feel like I copped out, because they … Continue reading

    The Creative Commons

    by
What is Creative Commons? As the Creative Commons website states, “Creative Commons is a nonprofit organization that enables the sharing and use of creativity and knowledge through free legal tools.” To me, the Creative Commons is the way to get around strict copyright laws when they aren’t exactly necessary. For example, I posted a picture earlier this week from Niagara Falls. Why shouldn’t I let others use this picture? It’s just a random photo I took with my phone. It would be nice to be credited for it, and even better if people didn’t have to ask for permission. Well luckily for them, that is possible! What if they only … Continue reading

Scene: Dumbledore falling after Snape Kills him. Movie: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince First off, I’d like to thank Jim Groom for his awesome tutorial which made the process of making a GIF go ever so smoothly. It was step-by-step with screenshots and links to all the cool software(Fastest Youtube Downloader, MPEG Streamclip, GIMP) to use. I would recommend everyone to check it out, whether you’re in DS106 or just making GIFs for fun! As for my clip, not only is this one of my favorite movies, but it is from my favorite SERIES of movies. Harry Potter has been a part of my life since 1999 when The … Continue reading

    Week One Summary

    by
First weekly post, ready? So I originally picked this class because it satisfies the art requirement and there is NO WAY I’m cut out for Theatre class. That aside, I think that this class is going to get me more involved using my computer and connecting in social media…which are both awesome! Now that we’re through that intro, let’s start with the weekly media we had to watch. When I watched the first video with Robert Hughes, I was instantly returned to my freshman Art History class and it reminded me of videos we had to watch and write about. By the end of the video, I was like $#!%, … Continue reading
