The Daily Create:
prompt:
Can you capture a person’s essence by only showing a part of the individual?
—> I chose to use a self portrait for this daily create. I believe that the image is strong in exposing my scar. Scars don’t define who you are, but rather they help you become who you are and who you want to be. My scar takes up practically my entire back, but it helped me grow strong and confident to the point where I don’t mind others seeing my scar and I do enjoy telling my story. However it is very important to realize that although you may be able to see my scar and know my story… you may not capture the entire essence of who I am.
I’m trying to develop my ideas for my storyboard. I want to make my story personal, yet relate able to my audience. I’m thinking about possibly telling a story through my poetry and then working on an audio story an incorporating some of my photography in it. Still brainstorming…

—> I chose this story board to listen to and decided it was one of my favorites out of the five I listened to prior. It stood out to me because of the content. Such a deep, strong content, yet the mother, Barbara Amaya, was able to fully talk about her experiences in her younger life. The fact that she was able to talk to her daughter about the abuses, and the prostitution she experienced at such a young age and for the amount of time it went on for is amazing to me. She is sharing her story because she cares. She is making others aware of the dangers and the possibilities of the world out there. However, my favorite part is the light, positive not the story was left on. The idea of strength and that no matter how hard times are, if you work hard enough, you will be able to do better for yourself.
