Recent study from Milan Uviversity reported that old report of there being sex degrees of separation is no longer correct and it is now four degrees of separation on facebook.
That is, a friend of your frinend probably knows a friend of their freind.
This prove that a number of facebook users is dramatically increasing all over the world, and our connection is getting stronger.

Unfortunately, the number of hackers who target facebook is increasing at the same time.

There are many complaints that people got hacked or saw a malicious homepage by clicking a link their friends posted.
People easily trust and click the links because you know the person who posted it.
I have seen many posts from my friends saying like "I got a spam! Sorry if suspicious messege was sent to you!".

Many solfware company has been working on security on facebook.
For example, Websense established a partnership with facebook on developing security program on facebook.
If a user click a link, that link would be sent to Websense to analyze if the link is safe. If Websense find the link is suspicious, the waring will appear saying "This link may not be safe!".

You can also protect yourself form the malware by using a website called Virus Total.
If you think a URL is suspicious, you put the URL on the page so that the service will analyze its safety for you!

The basic thing we can do to protect ourselves is that we always have to be alert and aware in this digital environment.
Easily assuming that messeges or links from your friends are safe is definitely dangerous.
Also, we always have to update our security program with our computer.
Some people never have any protection on their laptop, which is really really bad.
By updating your security, it can fight with the malware which has been smarter and more visious.

    ●Question for final●
What company did conclude a partnership with facebook to improve its security?

    Answer: Websense

    colorize your world!

This is my fourth work of ds106 assignment.
All I needed to do was just pick up a picture and change the colors. I couldn't find any good one but this one. Such a wonderful picture that I took years ago!

Then I changed the colors  into sepia tone.

I learned that sepia makes everything cool.

    ~How I made it~
Put sepia effect on the picture.

I used Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0.

    Identity Theft

    by
Identity theft is stealing someone else's information such as name, age, gender, address and using them to commit a crime or steal money or get hired with that  person's information. This has become a major way of theft because it is safe and the risks of getting caught are small. In America identity theft is becoming so common, and the rate is almost doubling every year. This is a serious issue because it causes so much problems to the victims, the people who got their identity stolen, because when the identity stealer commits a crime with another person's identity, that person will be in trouble. Famous and rich people are easy targets for identity thieves because they have money and it is easy to get to their personal information.
How to get all these information about the victims? The answer is easy: The internet is the easiest way to get information about people, specially the social networks, for example Facebook, people enter all their personal information without even knowing who sees them and how safe they are. People can steal our information from Facebook so easily and do fraud with it.

How should we protect ourselves from identity theft? We can never protect ourselves 100% but we can reduce the risks, we should not put all of our important personal information on social networks such as Facebook and Twitter, and we should be more careful when we are buying something online or whenever a website requires us to enter personal information, we should be sure that the website is trusted and safe to the our information first, and when we are sure, we should enter our information.

Q:where was the first virus created?

    Assignment: Good Map Story

I would like to talk some place I want to go in the future.

    Salar de Uyuni

First of all, I will introduce Salar de Uyuni.

Salar de Uyuni is the world's largest salt flat which is located in Blivia.
When it is covered with water, it becomes like a huge mirror.

Sorry, this video is in Japanese, but I selecetd this one because this has a so many amazing scene of Salar de Uyuni.
    But, isn't this fantastic??
Ths salt lake perfectly reflect the beautiful sky.
It is like you can hardly tell which side is heaven or earth!

Ths next place I would to tell is Jiuzhaigou Valley which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992.

    CIMG0119
    It is located in China.
The valley combines clear blue lake, waterfalls, beautiful mountains, and forests.
Especially, I want to see this clear blue lake which is called five-flower lake!
You can clearly see the bottom of the water.
The lake changes its colar at times. It sometimes turns to ink-green and yellow, but it stays diamond blue most of the time.

Lastly, I want to visit Yurigahama beach in Okinawa!

My hometown is the closest prefecture to Okinawa, but I have never been to this beach.
This small beach only appears when the tide is low.
The sand on this beach is shaped like a star.
According to legend, the more you can collect the sand, the more happy you get.

There are more places I want to visit, but it would take forever to introduce all the places.
Through this blog, I realized that I love clear and blue water.

English Teacher in Tokyo – Blackout Poetry

    by
For Native English Speakers Teaching in Japan.

Black out Poems are a contemporary form of  poetry, lead by Austin Kleon who is the creator, I'm sure. I fell in love with the work I've seen at ds106 and their creative Blackout poetry assignments. I just had to do one!
I ran a quick Google search hoping to find a detailed Wikipedia entry, which to my demise wasn't there. However, shortly after Austin Kleon's search result, I found Kevin Harrell's work: Creative Destruction which deserves a good look! I love the power in his words. He's at the tip of the spear in Blackout Poetry.

The ds106 assignment was submitted by Tim Owens and states to:
"Grab a marker and today's morning edition and start blacking out sections to create a new story. It could be a poem, a picture, or a novella, all drawn from the words of the latest news."
I work at the Temple University Japan Campus library, so it was easy to grab a copy of the Daily Yomiuri. I found an article by Takamasa Sakurai, in which he describes his newly published book: Let's Talk in English! (Eigo de hanso! 英語で話そう! ) He tells how Japan is connected to the world through social media. It was a great article!

After taking joy in reading it, I decided to make a Blackout Poem about this, conveying my feelings as an English Teacher in Japan; I think any English teaching foreigner will agree. However the words didn't come out quite right. Following Otto Paertz's advice on linking words; I put some digital art to work. Good ol' Paint helped me guide my thoughts. Here it is:

Not having the artistic capabilities held by Giulia Forsythe--who drew out images in her digital black out poem, or Stephanie Hughes who made some hand-drawn interpretations of her dream--All I did was circle the picture of two Japanese high school students in the cover of Sakurai's book. This is the second reason why I included his name in my work, the first being that I really liked his article.

Sans the lack of eloquence, my poem conveys the feeling of being an English teacher in Japan. We come here because we really like Japan, the young Asian students are the most zealous about learning English, and we both form friendships while doing it. It's an immensely delightful feeling.

As for the work, it was far more appealing to do the Blackout by hand. It was relatively simple.

And here's the original work by Takamasa Sakurai. As I said, it's most interesting. Please notice the last paragraph, where he mentions keeping worldly relationships with from Japan through social media.

I've taught this last semester of preparatory English to Japanese high school students through the AEP program at my school, Temple University Japan. As the curriculum involves English conversation, we chat for the first 30 minutes of class. I find myself constantly telling them that phrase in both in Japanese and English "Let's Talk in English!" As they soon start chatting in Japanese.

Here in Japan, teaching English is were the money is at. Straight talk, but for my American readers who haven't lived in Japan before, my following words might be enigmatic.

As soon as I came to Japan I was working as a freelance conversation partner. I'm also a Chat Host at Com'Inn English Cafe (sorry, only Japanese page for this one!) Where I get paid to drink coffee and talk to people, and drink and Party! As an extroverted American, this comes naturally and I do it all the time back home, but here I'm getting paid for it!

I've learned so much about Japanese people there. Demographics range from Businessmen and Office Ladies, to International artists and doctors. I love my work at Com'Inn, and the owner and co-workers are my distant family. It was featured in a Japanese show (sorry, no English subtitles):

I love working there SO MUCH, but I've found the greatest joy in working with Japanese high school students.

    We Are All Artists

This is what Timmmmyboy said in his presentation.

YES! WE ARE!! YES! I AM!!!

    Painter

If I describe about ART, I would like to put my formula for art...
    ( ENVIRONMENT × EVENT × ACTION) + (FOCUS × RESPECT)  = ART

We actually are doing something like an artist, but most things have not been mentioned.
However, once, we paid more attention and respected them, we could find new arts.

What we are saying could be a part of arts.
What we are seeing could be a part of arts.
What we are making could be a part of arts.
What we are doing could be a part of arts.
What we are doing nothing could be a part of arts.

Our birth and death could be a part of arts...

    For example,

Environment  ex) country, community, nature, family, weather
    Kindergarten Picnic
    By LonlyBob from flickr

Event . ex) culture, religions, habit..... in this case, picnic
    Kindergarten Picnic
    By LonlyBob from flickr

Action    ex) part of event but something that are influenced by the event.
    Cooking Class
    By LABabble from flickr

Focus and Respect ex) if he noticed the action and respected it
    Kindergarten Picnic
    By lonlybob from flickr

ART  ex)  then, the lunch box could be an art even if riceballs were not smiling;)
    lunch-box
    By Koizumi

so,,, every single thing could be an art...!?

Ds#106...As Timmmmyboy said, it is one of the best places to share our works. I think ds#106 is a huge campus or a gallery which all artists are connected with each other. There is no limit to be an artist, and everyone get idea from ds#106's assignment and create anything based on the descriptions of assignments!!

    Feel something!!
    Inspire something/someone each other!!
    Respect everything!!
