We have a new transfer student!

Hello everybody its been quite awhile since I’ve made a post but I plan on bringing back all my anime related posts to each and every one of you. As for now I have created my very own supercut video the point being to make a montage of an overused theme, quote, filming technique, etc. in films or TV shows. My particular moment that I believe is drastically overused in anime is the transfer student:

So let me explain what I did here. From my experience with anime there are typically 4-5 aspects that happen when a transfer student is introduced:

  1. Setting the scene- this typically opens up with either an exterior view of the school or specific classroom while the school bell rings. The teacher then enters telling everyone to take their seats and shut up because there is a life changing announcement to be made: “We have a new transfer student.”
  2. The introduction- with the students now waiting in anticipation, the transfer student slowly makes their entrance through the sliding door step by step as the camera view pans upward. Thus the transfer student introduces themselves usually follow by a “yoroshiku onegaishimasu” (pleased to meet you).
  3. The shock (optional)- at this point one or more students may have a sudden reaction to this persons coming. Usually along the lines of: “It’s him/her!”, “Oh my God”, or “Fuuuuuuck.”
  4. The cries of love- now considering this is an anime most students are more or less adorable and/or gorgeous, so by this point the classroom is in an uproar over the sheer beauties that have entered the room. Obviously girls who transferred get a lot more remarks and uproars even by other girls themselves. The male transfers still get some attention however.
  5. Take your seat- with a new character introduced all that’s left is to hurl them in the plot, so clearly the best way to do this is have the teacher stick them right next to the other main characters which then leads to friendship/ hilarity/chaos/romance/rivalry or a foot race between a student and an astronaut who then turns into a whale mid race because he got wet (yes this last one has happened).
