DS106: Weekly Summary 2

So here we are again, Weekly Summaries. Let me first start by stating that I was infact able to create an email forwarding address it is as follows:
[email protected]
When it comes to the customization of my blog this was by far the best part of this weeks assignments. I feel like this was the part of the class I am really going to enjoy going forward. I have really been able to flex my creative side when it comes to themes, widgets and plugins I can tell I am going to have a lot of fun. As of right now I have only added Akismet and to be honest I felt a little guilty when they asked me how much I felt it was worth!

When it came to welcome sites, I guess I was one of the lucky few who accidentally made one! It all began when I created my domain site without the “ds” before my site name and instead created ChaChaChelsea.com which is now my welcome site! Since then I have made a subdomain (hope I am using the right vocabulary here) and now have http://ds106.chachachelsea.com/

Daily Creates:
I must say these daily creates are kind of fun! I have really enjoyed being able to add to my website through these daily activities and I really appreciate the fact that I get to choose which ones I want to do. The first daily create I chose to do was on a monologue from my favorite movie with every third word removed. I chose Steve Buscemi’s monologue in Reservoir Dog’s. And even though some of the meaning is lost I think the general idea is still there:

Daily Create Monologue

The second daily create I chose was to do was posting a picture of something I must see, eat, hear, do ect. everyday! I posted a picture of my dog Jones, hes spectacular and I must say nothing quiet starts my day off like waking up to this:

Jones

And then we come to quiet possibly the most difficult part of this week’s assignments: Animated gifs. I chose to do the movie “UP”
It was challenging figuring out which programs I needed and which I did not, I ended up using MPEG Streamclip and KeepVid but by far what really helped me to learn how to do this was the tutorial posted on the Ds106 site
But to end this brief explination this is my animated Up GIF and I honestly am so proud of myself (though I must admit my fellow bloggers/classmates have more than helped me to this point)

So this is the end of DS106 bootcamp and I would be lying if I said it was easy. This being said I have more than enjoyed everything I have learned thus far and I could not be more excited to continue this scholarly journey into the web-based abyss. Though I hate to admit it I think what I am really going to need to be better about going forward in this class is time management. Even though these past two weeks have been packed with assignments and new experiences I know it is all doable with a little more planning. So it is with this new excitement for learning and a “note to self” about better time management I trudge on into DS106!

Until next week,

Chelsea
