Goals for Video

I’ve never been a big fan of making videos. Especially if I have to be in them. So this portion of the course should be challenging for me, but in a good way. My current knowledge of creating videos is very, very basic, and so anything I learn to do will be an accomplishment. I’m mostly interested in learning how to put segments of several different videos together into one video, and how to add audio over other layers of audio.

My younger sister is really big on making videos, so I will definitely be turning to her for some help in the next few weeks. She is going into film, so she knows way more than I do and will probably laugh at how little I am able to do. However, I think that learning to make videos will be a great skill to have as I am searching for a career, because so many companies need people who have the ability to create digital media, like videos, for marketing campaigns. I’m excited about seeing what my finished product will be, but I make no promises on how creative or entertaining they will be!

This is one of my favorite videos. Disclaimer: It’s a super sappy love story involving a proposal and a wedding. But if you ignore the content and just look at the video itself, it’s pretty cool. It’s all about multimedia, video with pictures and audio and text, and this is the kind of thing I hope I can learn to do (obviously I don’t think mine will be quite as good – but I’d like to learn how to apply these ideas to a simple video of my own).
