It is always nice to have a reference when you’re doing something new.  DS106 is no exception to that .  After looking through many blogs from The Best of ds106 Fall 2012 I found one I really liked:  Ashley’s Cooking Show 3* (Should be more!).   I love cooking, so I was instantly curious to see what Ashley was whipping up in the kitchen (plus she is wearing a Washington Capitals shirt and they are my FAVORITE team, so I was hooked).  Take a look!

This tells a story of how to make chicken pasta.  It even has smaller stories within it about how to prepare certain foods, such as cutting chicken, and as little about her relationship with her boyfriend.  I like that her not only walks you through the cooking process, but shows us the food and give little tips throughout.  It has its own shape too!  Preparation to cooking to being ready to eat (I consider the arc to be when we see what is on the stove, like the peppers).  Ashley’s cooking story inspired me to plan a cooking show of my own for future ds106 projects!

in[SPIRE] also had a lot to look at.  The one that caught my eye right away was eyestosee by Annie Belle:

The minute I saw this I knew it was the ceiling on the dorm I lived in for two years, Ball Hall.  Not only did this make me think of stories and adventures I had while living there it also made me think of ones Annie probably had.  I love that I could show this to someone and tell them all about my great times, but it has the potential to spark stories for others.  It is a digital story because the photograph itself helps tell those stories past, present, and future.  The warm and cool colors seems to some how represent the good and bad (different shapes) as well as show a modern twist to a antique building.  I wonder what Annie thought of when she took this picture and what she would think of my take on it.
