“The Zen of Listening” Response

Listening is different than hearing. It is easy to hear something however much more difficult to listen and process the information. Radio provides a unique experience where one can listen without being distracted by visual stimuli. Back in the day people used to have album listening parties, where they gathered around a record player and listened to an album from start to finish. There is something special about devoting all attention to an audio piece and actually listening. Listening should be utilized in the same way as reading. People don’t read while doing something else, they isolate themselves and dedicate their attention to the written piece. More people should do this with audio, not using it as background noise but actually paying attention to the audio.
