Listen – Beyonce

I guess if I’m writing this then that means I survived audio week(s)! WAHOOO!! I feel success, more so then when I survived boot camp! Going into audio week, I was a Negative Nelly. I’m not going to lie. If you haven’t read my DS 106 pledge/promise that I made this week, read it now!

I did five assignments from the audio assignment bank. I made a radio bumper and a commercial for the Fab Five Radio Show. I also created a Song Story, Character Bird Call, and Foley Sounds from the 1928 Charlie Chaplin film The Circus.

Because of the two week period, the daily create number was six. I enjoyed the prompts because there seemed to be such a wide range of them {probably because it was over a three week period}. Here are my daily creates for weeks 7 and 8. Enjoy :)

Fab Five met one night to decide on a theme for our radio show. It was nice to meet all of the girls face-to-face. It took a little time to find the perfect theme but we found one that could have some strong potential: Interviewing. We wanted to “interview” celebrities by cutting their responses from other interviews and pasting them together to fit the responses to our questions. We fell in love with this idea immediately. We called it Serial Dater. The whole group contributed to this idea. We divided up the interviews so each person would interview someone.

The hardest part about working as a group was the communication. Because this is an online class, we communicated through email and Twitter. It was only difficult when someone didn’t check their email right away and a response was needed right away. This could have been solved by giving our phone numbers out – I don’t know why we didn’t think of that! The easiest part about working as a group was the group dynamics! All of the girls are so creative and funny, I never feared about the outcome of our radio show.

I was the lucky one who made a interview interviewed Taylor Swift! Here is the interview with the serial dater herself:

I created a Twitter account for our radio show group. This will serve as a place where listeners can give us feedback, vote, and participate in our show. All they have to do is tweet @DSFabFive. After I created this, I sent the login information to all of the group members. This way, everyone will have access to it. I also am going to be live when the radio show airs via Skype. We were a little late signing up so our time is kind of late: 10:15-10:45pmDON’T MISS IT!!! It may be late but it’s a great way to end such a terrible day of the week.

Overall, the group radio show went well. I am happy with the outcome, thanks to Brooke for putting all of our audio clips together – you’re the best! I am confident that listeners will enjoy it and hopefully we will get positive feedback from them via our Twitter account. However, I don’t know what Taylor would say if she ever heard it – so hopefully it doesn’t get too popular! ;)

These past two weeks were tough, hard, intense. I wanted to get a head start on the assignments so I didn’t feel bad during Spring Break when I wasn’t doing anything {even though I ended up doing some work over break, I just couldn’t get away from digital storytelling}. I think the reason I didn’t care for it during week 4 was because I had such a hard time with downloading all of the software needed to create and download audio. You can read about my experience and frustrations here. Since I was already frustrated with my computer, I think I might have taken my frustrations out on audio.

Sorry audio.
