Exploring the Movie More- Dodgeball Edition

After analyzing the “If you can dodge traffic, you can dodge a ball” scene from Dodgeball, I had to go and research more about this particular movie.

First, I went on IMDb’s profile of the movie. From here, I found a few fun facts like

  • The original title was simply ‘Underdog’.
  • The entire cast practiced playing dodgeball about a month before filming began.

And my personal favourite fun fact:

  • Justin Long’s eyebrow was actually cut open by the first wrench thrown at him. All the wrenches thrown were made of rubber, but the first was harder than all the others.

Okay, and then, I decided that this movie would fall under the genre of comedy. According to this site, comedy is:

Screen shot 2013-03-31 at 4.23.29 PM

Why I think Dodgeball is a comedy is simple. Here are my reasons:

  1. It has a ton of jokes.
  2. It’s a movie about dodgeball for crying out loud.
  3. Ben Stiller is in it! It doesn’t get funnier than that!

After looking up funny facts about Dodgeball, I looked for clips from the movie to combine using MPEG Streamclip. I wanted to find one clip that addressed the funny wardrobe visual element that I talked about in my analysis as well as the painful sound effects that I discussed when only listening to the audio clip. Here were the two clips I found:

Oh my lanta, hearing the sound effect of that girl falling makes me cringe!

I just could not resist with the outfits those guys were wearing for the car wash. Hilarious!

Anyways, I used MPEG Streamclip to combine the two clips together after looking at this tutorial (which was super helpful, thanks!) I got the clips using PwnYoutube (something I used for the GIF assignment way back when). Here’s what I came up with:

I’m not sure why the sizes of the clips wouldn’t change, but it is what it is ):

Can any of you guys help? Let me know if you can!
