My name is Evan and I’m in #ds106 this semester. I’m really bad at intro-type things like this.

I guess I should give some facts about myself. I’m a senior. I’m a computer science major, linguistics minor, and applied math minor. That’s boring though. Some more interesting facts:

Okay so I left the country for the first time ever this summer. I went to a conference in Montreal; flying there was the first time I’d ever been in a plane, too. Here’s a (kinda bad) picture I took of the sun setting over Lake Ontario on the flight there.

My biggest hobbies are conlanging and worldbuilding. In case these terms are new to you, that means I create languages and worlds for fun. As they’re pretty niche hobbies (especially conlanging), it’s pretty rare to meet people who share them with me in-person. There’s a pretty great YouTube channel for worldbuilding and conlanging called Artifexian. The creator of the channel has asked me to fact-check some of his conlanging videos before! Here’s his basics of conlanging video:

I’m also a (very) amateur throat singer. I’m still pretty bad, but I’m getting better. One of my favourite bands is a Tuvan folk band called Huun-Huur-Tu that incorporates a lot of traditional Tuvan throat singing into their songs. Here’s one of them:

Hope you enjoyed my random personal facts.
