Second week down. It was way busier than last week, since we actually had creative assignments this week. So, things I did this week:
1) Daily Creates

You have no idea how long it took to get all those prefixes lined up correctly.

The partially-recognised country of Abkhazia needs one. Let's do .ay from the native name "Apsny"

This one totally isn’t a way to justify .ay so I can have my website be evanm.ay.

I’ve spent so much time in the lab lately, since my room has no AC and it does.
2) Assignment Bank
- For my first assignment, I talked about how the Space Jam website is pretty much the exact same as it was when it went up 20 years ago. It was interesting looking at this piece of internet history, a relic of the internet of the past.
- For my second assignment, I made a tutorial on how to make flags using Inkscape. It took the longest of any of the assignments, but I’m really proud of the final result.
- For my third assignment, I chose to do one of the more relaxing assignments. I made some cool abstract suns using Shiny Like Silk.
- For my fourth assignment, I made a quick gif of my frustration with the internet on campus.
Check out the links for the stuff I created. I could put it all here, but it’d take up too much space.
3) Article Responses
I responded to two articles this week. My first response was the the article Web 2.0 Storytelling. It was an interesting article that went over some of the ways storytelling is changing with the advent of the internet. It especially highlighted the social aspect of digital storytelling, which was neat. My second response was to the short story A Logic Named Joe and the article about it. The story was remarkably prescient; it predicted both a number of internet technologies and social impacts the internet and computers would have. I also liked how it focused on how the computers weren’t evil, they just enabled people’s bad traits.
Altogether, this was a really busy week. I managed to finish everything, though, and I’m proud of the stuff I made!
