To get a remix assignment I went to http://remix.ds106.us/ and pressed the remix button where it game me an assignment that I previously did but with a twist! It was the Mashedup Children’s Book with a twist of changing the language. I started by finding a Dr. Suess book, The Cat in the Hat and putting a german twist on it. One of the au pairs I had when I was a kid was from Germany and she would bring us Kinder eggs, which were a traditional candy in Germany. I decided to use this as the change in culture and language perspective. I changed the title to “The toy in the egg” but used google translate to put it into German “Das Spielzeug im Ei!.”
To create the new book cover I googled an image of The cat in the hat cover and downloaded it into GIMP.

I then found the paint color of the background of the cover and erased the image and writing and then used an eraser to write the new title in German. I then googled images of Kinder eggs and used the lasso editor in GIMP to add them to the book cover.

Once all of the images were added to the book cover, I saved it and exported out of GIMP as a JPEG and uploaded it onto flickr where I tagged it with RemixAssignments, Remix6, RemixedAssignments1176, and ds106 so the assignment bank would register it.
