I chose all of these pictures because they represent who I am.. A photographer. I try my hardest to be great, sometimes it doesn’t turn out well but these are just a few of the gems I have come up with over the years.

Now I don’t know how much description we are supposed to give with our sound story. I kind of want people to figure out what is going on to see if I’ve made everything clear enough. I’m not going to give you anything but a title… “Distracted Walking”

I listened to ‘The Ghost of Bobby Dunbar”. I picked this audio recording because I absolutely love thought of ghost stories. This really wasn’t a ghost story. I have to admit I was slightly disappointed at first but after listening to this radiocast, I had to go and look up all the information on the Bobby Dunbar story. The radio personality did a fantastic job of keeping me interested. Some of the techniques  he used to keep readers interested were music and voice overlapping. So, this week we were asked to watch a series of four videos by Ira Glass, followed by an interview with Jad Abumrad. Here are my views on both of these videos; Ira Glass’s video was extremely informative. He explained, in his own words, the reasons many radio casts excel/fail. His key point he brought up was that there are two fundamental building blocks to doing a radio broadcast. You have to have a clear story that you can work off of, and a reason that that story is relevant. If you don’t, your radio broadcast will fail. Storytelling; the act of telling stories… DUH. When someone says storytelling I think of people sitting around a fire telling stories of the past, present, or future. I think of someone accounting things that may or may not be true. I think of small children, engaged in a fantasy world that will forever shape their images of the real world. Storytelling is something scared, something that will never go away. There will always be ways for people to “story tell”. Digital Storytelling… Making up one’s story and posting it on the web? ‘Creative Commons” is actually a sort of copywriting organization. They work along side copyriting your work so people can’t steal your pictures, music, blog posts, ect. They allow the public to share your work while giving you credit. A creative commons license is not a copyright, but it does the same thing. (maybe even better) Creative Commons allows you to have the freedom to choose what people can do with your work. You can allow people to use it for personal use, but not commercial use or you can allow people to use it for commercial use, and not personal use. (who would do that?)
