    2 Starsā€¦ Splash the Color

    by
This assignment was worth 2 stars, not as hard as the other two assignments so far but just as fun! I loved making this picture, it’s adorable. This child is my favorite. He is perfect. Minus the drool coming out of his mouth in this picture. We...

    Best ofā€¦ Set

    by
I chose all of these pictures because they represent who I am.. A photographer. I try my hardest to be great, sometimes it doesn’t turn out well but these are just a few of the gems I have come up with over the years.

    Week 4ā€¦ BUSY LISTENING.

    by
This week was astronomically busy. I quit my old job at Food Lion and started a new one at Target Mobile. I just got off of work an hour ago… After a 10 hour shift. Goodness gracious am I tired. I’ll start by embedding my daily creates. Can Graffiti Be Beautiful?: The answer to that is YES. My friend Brigid is an aspiring model and I have always used her as my perm-model for photoshoots. I think she is absolutely beautiful and when I saw this little piece of graffiti on this bench I was thrilled. I knew it was going to be a great photo opportunity. The Number 3: … Continue reading

    Look before walkingā€¦ Sound Story.

    by
Now I don’t know how much description we are supposed to give with our sound story. I kind of want people to figure out what is going on to see if I’ve made everything clear enough. I’m not going to give you anything but a title… “Distracted Walking”

    Put the bumpers up!

    by
For my DS106 Radio bumper I had to do something hockey related. I couldn’t not do something hockey related. I’m just so sad there is not going to be a hockey season *sobs*. I chose to use freesound.org to find clips to use, I surprisingly d...

    Dodgeball Angel

    by
Shawn Michael Patrick Oā€™Brien, When I heard about Coachā€™s passing, I was skeptical. There had been rumors floating around my former Middle School and High School that had turned out to be false. Unless he was tweeting from the grave, which if that was possible; he would be the one to do it. Coach Oā€™Brien was the one teacher I will never forget. He taught his students so many life lessons that we will carry with us for the entirety of our time on this planet. He was yanked away from us way too soon. His passing never really hit me until I read the obituary posted on our local … Continue reading

    DS106 Radio #4life

    by
I listened to my allotted hour of DS106 radio today. I have to say, whoever I was listening to was extremely passionate about Beyonce’s baby. I sat and listened for a good 10 minutes about Blue Ivy, and Rhianna, and all this gossip about Beyonce. I will say, I love Beyonce but I really don’t care about her personal life. Not being mean or anything, everyone is entitled to radio show about whatever they want. I just happened to be listening haha. I really like how every time I turn on DS106 radio it has that little intro piece, is the guy talking the man from School House Rock? It … Continue reading

    The Ghost of Bobby Dunbar!

    by
I listened to ā€˜The Ghost of Bobby Dunbarā€. I picked this audio recording because I absolutely love thought of ghost stories. This really wasnā€™t a ghost story. I have to admit I was slightly disappointed at first but after listening to this radiocast, I had to go and look up all the information on the Bobby Dunbar story. The radio personality did a fantastic job of keeping me interested. Some of the techniques Ā he used to keep readers interested were music and voice overlapping. While he was telling the story of what happened to poor Bobby Dunbar, he played sad and depressing music with hints of piano in the background. … Continue reading

Storytelling, An art form all in itself.

    by
So, this week we were asked to watch a series of four videos by Ira Glass, followed by an interview with Jad Abumrad. Here are my views on both of these videos; Ira Glass’s video was extremely informative. He explained, in his own words, the reasons many radio casts excel/fail. His key point he brought up was that there are two fundamental building blocks to doing a radio broadcast. You have to have a clear story that you can work off of, and a reason that that story is relevant. If you don’t, your radio broadcast will fail. Glass goes on to explain that most of the time, broadcasts will … Continue reading

    Week 3- Easier and Easier

    by
Week three, done. Whew. This week has actually been slightly challenging. Between my other classes (ugh, spanish), work (new job! woo), and taking care of a 10 week old puppy (awwww), it’s hard to find time to do all of this stuff.. BUT I GOT IT DONE! Woot. What is storytelling? Well I tell you HERE. My ideas on storytelling haven’t changed since I wrote that blog post. I doubt they will change. I still think that eventually, telling stories for pleasure/fun will be obsolete. Kurt Vonnegut. Fantastic. He was humorous which made his video that much more entertaining. His explanation of the shapes of stories was fascinating. I never … Continue reading

    Storytelling, a forgotten art.

    by
Storytelling; the act of telling stories… DUH. When someone says storytelling I think of people sitting around a fire telling stories of the past, present, or future. I think of someone accounting things that may or may not be true. I think of small children, engaged in a fantasy world that will forever shape their images of the real world. Storytelling is something scared, something that will never go away. There will always be ways for people to “story tell”. Digital Storytelling… Making up one’s story and posting it on the web? I honestly have no clue. Honestly, when someone says Digital Storytelling it makes me think of Fan Fictions. … Continue reading

    Week Two of Bootcamp: PUNISHED.

    by
Week two, wow. This week was tough. I actually had to pace myself on all of the work that we had to do. Between work, hockey, and a social life (probably could have cut that one out), I finally got the work done on Sunday morning! The daily creates this week were difficult. None of them really struck my fancy. I picked the three that I thought were the coolest, I guess. Spinning Objects, Wearing something as a hat that wasn’t a hat, and The Great Outdoors. I’ve been happy with the visual/photography daily creates so far. I, being a photographer find them fun. Being able to use one of … Continue reading

The wonderful world of Creative Commons. (CC)

    by
‘Creative Commons” is actually a sort of copywriting organization. They work along side copyriting your work so people can’t steal your pictures, music, blog posts, ect. They allow the public to share your work while giving you credit. A creative commons license is not a copyright, but it does the same thing. (maybe even better) Creative Commons allows you to have the freedom to choose what people can do with your work. You can allow people to use it for personal use, but not commercial use or you can allow people to use it for commercial use, and not personal use. (who would do that?) Creative commons is essentially copyright … Continue reading

    The Great Outdoors

    by
    M. in the woods. This is my little brother, Michael. He asked me to take a photo shoot of him for a new Facebook profile picture. This was one of the products. It also showcases the great outdoors during the fall. Beautiful.

Woot, Look at that! I made a GIF!

    by
My Favorite Movie? Pan’s Labyrinth. My Favorite Scene? The Pale Man; aka: The Baby Eater. Isn’t he just adorable?! I had never in my life made a GIF before, The tutorial made by Jim Groom helped so much. I downloaded GIMP (which I have used previously for photography) and StreamClip. I found both easy to use as I navigated my way through Mr. Groom’s tutorial. I will say, my Tumblr will be home to all sorts of new GIFs with this newfound knowledge. Why did I choose Pan’s Labyrinth? Pan’s Labyrinth is absolutely one of the most intriguing movies I have ever watched. I could go on for hours about … Continue reading

    Weekly Summary- Week One

    by
Week One, How shall I describe you?… Interesting. I originally signed up for this class because someone said it was different and if you were technology savvy it would be easy. I’m finding both to be true. The media we had to watch at the beginning of the week was very straight forward. The first video though was my least favorite of the two. I get easily distracted and while watching old videos like this one I tend to doze off. The second video however proved to be a favorite. This approach to where great ideas come from is a very thought provoking concept. The insanely good drawings also helped … Continue reading
