“A Pilot’s Path,” Final Project Trailer.

    by
This week I finished up taking videos and photos for the trailer and sat down and downloaded them onto my computer to upload to iMovie. I decided to use the song, “Here I Go Again” by A British rock band called, Whitesnake released in 1982. I decided to use this song because it obviously connects with our 80s theme and also goes well with the documentary. Below is the ad that I created in Canva to advertise the movie that will becoming out in Winter of 2020. The name of the movie is, A Pilot’s Path. The main character of

Weekly Summary #14 final outline and videos.

    by
This week I have started to take videos and photos of my sister and her atmosphere at the airport. This is based out of Hanover Airport in Ashland, VA. I have got some really cool videos and pictures of sunsets in the plane and on the ground with planes around. I think this documentary will be awesome onnce put together and completed. I keep having a lot of different ideas come into my head with the brainstorming of what video to put where, but I think it will come together great. I am very excited about it. Below is a

Weekly Summary #13, Final Project outline.

    by
This week, I was told to start working on my final project. For my final project, I am going to tell a story across multiple categories of media. I have created projects with writing, photography, audio, video and design. I also have done remixed and mashed up projects that were fun to create! My final project should involve the course theme in some way, but I am free to determine how to do that. I have to build a story in multiple interconnected media for this final project. Professor Bond explained what interconnected media is and that helped me understand

This week we are doing mash and remix!! These assignments were challenging and exciting all at the same time. I learned A LOT from these assignments and even the present projects for me to look at to understand how remixes and mashups work. I had to look up a lot of times directions on how to do the next step in the assignments, but I found my way to the solution and completing it. I defiantly took a lot more time on these mashup assignments to complete than any other assignments in the assignment bank. I ended up uploading most

    Animoji Karaoke.

    by
This is the original assignment worth 5 stars. With my iPhone XS, I created myself using Apple’s Animoji. I decided to listen and lip sing the song, “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey from the 80s. I saved the video and uploaded it onto YouTube and my google drive. I answered the questions, ” Why do you think your character looks like you?” “Why did you chose this song?” This mashup includes elements from video, audio, and written work that I created all on my iPhone.  I created my own personal emoji with blonde hair and blue eyes. I chose to

    Remix #2, boring PPT.

    by
The original assignment that I decided to remix is here. Here is the remix assignment link. The directions for the remix is this: Turn this assignment into a really bad powerpoint presentation- do everything wrong in terms of design, bad colors, dense text, bad graphics. Make it a snoozer. I created this project on PowerPoint and followed exactly what it asked as you can view from below. I crated a powerpoint that is poor, very boring, and straight to the point. I used a blank powerpoint page and did not change the font size, or font itself. I had some

    Tutorial #1

    by
For this assignment I have to make a tutorial to help out the next generation of ds106ers. I put together a detailed description of how I did an assignment. I chose a video which makes the most sense for the information to be displayed. I chose an assignment that was a lot of fun. Below is my creation of the assignment that I did. I decided to go back into design assignments and the generate cool letters project. I videoed off my phone and talked about what the assignment asked and how I went along and did the assignment. I

    Remix #1, Event poster!

    by
This is the original link to the assignment before I remixed it. Original Assignment. Event Poster created by Erin Madden. Design a poster for an upcoming event, it could be a concert, a car show, really anything you want, the event can even be made up. Be creative and have fun with it. When you finish your poster, advertise it on your social media accounts so people will know about the event.  This is the remix directions: Find a completed assignment and create it’s oxymoron, something that is contradictory to what was made. Story through text.

    by
This assignment was 5 stars and here is the original link. This is what it asked me to do, “Chances are you’ve probably seen those creepy ads on YouTube which tells horror stories through text. Now it’s your turn to tell a story. It can be horror, comical, or serious… it is up to you! Grab a friend (or two phones and text yourself back and forth) and text each other to tell a story. Before you start texting, make sure to turn on the camera so you can record the story or download an app to record your screen.”

I created all my video assignments below in iMovie. I completed 10 1/2 stars again this week and I only needed 10 stars total. I am continuing to learn a lot in iMovie. I added transitions, title pages to all of the videos created below. I added some music in the background of the video of my 5 important things to me. All my video work is uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo. I hope you enjoy my commercial, the video of importance to me, and my favorite video transition in iMovie. Let me know what you guys think. I am

    Final projects thoughts.

    by
“Maybe, a story about an 80s movie, and creating a different ending or beginning. Messing around with the climax or the movie message itself by recreating it, or adding to it.” I still enjoy this idea which I created but I did see some interesting other final project ideas as well. I have not decided yet what I want to commit to yet, but I will have to pick soon. I could revise my original idea if someone else wanted to add something to it, I am up for anything. I also am willing to build upon ideas from the

5 important things to me :)

    by
This is the original link to the assignment. It is worth 3 stars. This video was a lot of fun to create because I got to pick the top 5 things that mean the most to me. I love my animals so I chose my dog and my cat. I also chose my boyfriend and my twin sister. Lastly, I chose my bamboo plant that I have been growing since my freshman year of college. I used a lot of different transitions between the videos. I decided to add in a little background guitar music. I think it all turned

    My commercial !

    by
This is the original link to the assignment and it is worth 5 stars. UPLOAD TO YOUTUBE @ VIMEO I created this in iMovie where I chose the circle to open transition in the beginning and a fade to white at the end. I decided to hold my phone up in front of the camera so you can see Micheal Jackson singing and I like how there was reflection within the background where you can see another view of Jackson. Below is the script that I read and wrote for this commercial. I would probably print out a picture of

    Favorite Transition used in iMovie.

    by
This is the original link to the assignment and it is worth 2 1/2 stars. I chose two music videos from youtube that were free to download and use. I chose 80s music to go with the theme. I created this in iMovie. I downloaded the free music clips off of youtube onto my 4k video downloader. I decided to start the video with a transition of a door way to show the audience this is the beginning to the video. I then added a title that says, “Hold On” during the first music clip because you are on a

    Weekly Summary #10

    by
The first video I watched was all about editing and the video used different scenes from different movies. It talked about how the use of the frames per second, or the amount of time focused on a human eye, can tell us about what will happen next. Editing almost seems invisible, because it happens so naturally you barely notice it. I learned that you see a cut happen more during a scene where someone is agitated and annoyed, compared to a scene of romance or happiness. As Professor Bond wrote in the weekly assignments, …”these videos presented that the focus

    Video assignments, Week 10

    by
I completed 10 1/2 stars of video assignments this week. I choose this option and received a second set of video assignments to complete next week that needs to be a total of 10 stars as well. I have never used iMovie before, so this was all very new to me. I visited the DKC to ask a few questions about iMovie and they were very helpful as always. Below are my video assignments I chose for this week to complete. I struggled with putting them together in iMovie and you will notice that I am a beginner because of

Video essay on, The Shining, 1980.

    by
This assignment asked me to make a video, using a scene from a movie, which I chose “The Shining” and discuss the scene in voice-over narration, and I can either upload my video essay to Vimeo or Youtube. I chose to complete this project on iMovie. Hello everyone! I completed my video essay analysis and decided to use the famous, Here’s Johnny” scene from the movie, The Shining, filmed in 1980. This scene presented a lot of editing used by the music, characters clothes, characters facial expressions, the props, the lighting, and the hand held camera. This scene was perfect

    Favorite Moments in a video.

    by
For this video assignment I had to create a video using some of my favorite pictures/videos that I have taken while in school this year! The original link to the assignment is here and it is worth 2 stars. As you can see or watch, the pictures chosen are not from school, instead, they are from places that I have been during this school year, Beaufort, NC and some cute pictures of my pets. I used iMovie to create this video and it was my first time ever using iMovie. This video was a struggle for me at first, but

    Weekly Summary #9

    by
This week we had to connect our daily creates if possible and create a story out of them. I decided to have all three of my daily creates connect and the final daily create sums them all together. One my first daily create, it asked me to draw a ruler without looking at a ruler itself. Well to be honest I struggled with that a lot as you can see, I was guessing what went between the inches. On my second daily create, I was asked to take a picture of something that describes me. I decided to take a

    Reflection on radio show!

    by
On Tuesday night, I had some difficulty getting the ds106 radio to load for me on my computer. For some reason my computer would not load the ds106 radio. After tweeting with my professor trying different browsers and links, I finally thought about the idea that I could listen to the radio station on my phone. That worked. I do not know why my computer would not load the radio station because it has before, but I will have to look into that later on.  The podcast I started to hear was about the Golden Girls once I finally listened

    Projects going forward.

    by
I did approach this last group project, the Radio Show with trepidation. I really enjoyed it and working in the group I was in was great. We all got along and got our work done in a timely manner. Communication is key for group projects and my group communicated very well. We all inspired each other and gave each other guidance when needed. I understand I have the option to work in a group again for the final or by myself. Personally, I have no preference, but it would depend on the project itself of course. My schedule is crazy

    Redos!

    by
I decided to chose this commercial to redo and add some background music to help set the mood better. This commercial is used in our groups final podcast that will be airing soon. I grabbed this commercial from the free commercial scripts website. When I first played this commercial, I heard only my voice then I realized it needed something else. I decided to go onto freesounds.org and downloaded a nylon string guitar with steel string bass. I created this in audacity and I put the gain on my voice to an increase and the guitar to a decrease so

Some of my group members including me used songs from the 80s that got blocked off of SoundCloud. We reached out to our professor and discussed a different way to submit our project, and we found a solution, which made our group very happy! We put it all together in Audcacity, and uploaded it onto our wordpress blogs as a audio file mp3. I hope that everyone gets a chance to listen to the final product during our radio show coming up soon! Here it is below. AUDIO FILE LINK OF RADIO SHOW PODCAST. Here is my second blog post

Who is ready for a brief, summary about the process and progress of the radio show podcast project!? 🙂 First, below is a screenshot of the google drive that I took on Saturday. We are all sharing our segments to upload each of our finished products up there on the google drive. Slowly but surely we will eventually have all of them up! 🙂 This week is Fall Break, so last week our entire group kick butt to complete most of the radio show! Most of us created our bumpers, commercials, and each of our personal segments and uploaded them

I like using freesounds.org to get my beats and songs from that I use for these projects. I used Audacity to create each project below. Below is the design assignment I chose to create my poster for the ds106 radio podcast. I created a poster to advertise my groups radio podcast. I thought it turned out decent and looks like the 80s theme. I created this poster

    Radio Show Progress…!

    by
Since next week is Fall Break, we decided that we wanted to knock out most of the project this week while we were all at school. I first emailed my group members and asked for their emails and phone numbers so I could create a google doc and a group chat. Thankfully we all texted each other back and decided to meet up as soon as possible. We are all on very opposite schedules, so we had to get a lot of planning and some recording done when we met up. We first created an outline on the google doc
