    Week 9 Story Critique

    by
After being completely immersed in Serial the last two weeks it was particularly hard for me to find a digital story to write about this week. Honestly I was about to give up! I searched and searched and nothing caught my eye. Not only did I finish Serial season one is one weekend, I went on to listen to season two the following weekend. I was lost when it was over! Much like the moment you put down and amazing book, a book that filled your mind until it was spilling over, where there is no

    Week 9 Daily Create

    by
Today's daily create was to bury something undesirable at Boot Hill cemetery. I didn't choose something undesirable, hopefully not because it's me! This was a saying a friend of mine from college used to say all the time. We were two peas in a pod taking many religious studies classes together and leading all the debates, he would say this would be written on our tombstones... So true...

    Top Storytelling TedX Talks

Who doesn't like a great story? These Master Storytellers break down the anatomy of great storytelling.  The power of story shapes, influences, and impacts us in ways we are cognizant of and in ways we are not.  Stories deepen our understanding of who we are and shape who we believe others are. Chimamanda speaks about the danger of having a single story about an individual, group, culture, country, or anything else.  Her TedX Talk reminded me of a friend who says, "until the lion tells the story

@ds106dc  #tdc1528 Have you ever looked around … really “looked” around … and suddenly noticed faces everywhere? She or He is very clever. Quite stiff. Quite formal. The eyes are very direct, the kind that will follow you in a room! (close-up of rotated weathered fence)

Chapter 5 New Literacies: Blogs and Wikis

    by
Chapter five of New Literacies focuses on Blogs, Wikis, and collaborative means of learning. I really enjoyed this chapter, mainly because I have been loving writing blog posts every week. So, when I saw the title of this chapter I was immediately interested. This chapter touched on things I’ve actually been using in this program and this course (Learning with Digital Stories). BlogsA big takeaway for me from this chapter about blogging is how the line between blogging and using social media is

The concept of Tribes is an interesting one in the social media sphere. I think I spend more time on Twitter just sifting through the noise. I don’t usually engage in conversation, I’m more of background user. The articles from

Week 8 Story Critique – Facing Race
