Week 11 Response to Scholar Article

    by
Let the Children Play, It’s Good for Them I continue to be a huge fan of letting children play. There is play here and there, but incorporating play into content remains an excellent way to teach content in both meaningful and memorable ways. I found an article entitled:  Let the Children Play, It’s Good for […]

    Week 12 Digital Story Critique

    by
Links below Educational Technology and Mobile Learning Creaza I was actually looking for digital story examples done by kindergarteners, but instead I stumbled upon a site that lists free digital storytelling tools for teachers. From that list I chose Creaza, and for this critique I chose to look at: Project Planning This is a very […]

    Daily Create 11

(Visit the home Google Streetview to find a spot of interest which you have not and will most probably never visit in your life) I don’t want to imagine that there is anywhere in the world that I will probably never visit – that is too depressing! But when I think of the impossible I … Continue reading Daily Create 11

    Week 12 Focal Theme Response

    by
This week I would like to focus on Foster Care/Adoption. After all of the research I did into adoption it became clear to my husband and I that it was not an option for us. No matter how much we agonized over it there was just no way I could figure out a way for us to come up with that kind of money, especially when I considered that literally thousands of children are out there in foster care. I kept coming back to it and thinking about children in foster care. So I switched gears and began

DS106 Assignment Bank: Writing Assignment Write a Bucket List Pick five items to add to your bucket list and explain why they are on your list. 1.Go to Ireland see if I can find any Hanagan’s. My father’s family came from Ireland and his mother was born there. His father’s family came from Ireland during the 1870’s as immigrants. Once I was told that my last name, Hanagan, is from the county Mayo in Ireland and since it’s a different spelling than the traditional, “Hannigan” and there are more

    Assignment Bank: Audio

    by
This audio assignment is about misunderstood lyrics. We’ve all misunderstood lyrics to songs – the Jimi Hendrix example is classic: “Excuse me while I kiss this guy?” Go right ahead, sir. I’ll just keep singing along pretending I understand what you’re saying… For this assignment, I recorded myself rapping along to the original version of the Boogie Down Productions … Continue reading Assignment Bank: Audio

    Week 12 Story Critique

    by
Opening Doors By Tahira Hussain    This digital story was made by Tahira Hussain in a workshop facilitated by the Center for Digital Storytelling. The story is told from the point of view of Tahira and is her story of how she applied for a scholarship to a university in the US and left Pakistan. The story is simple and involves Tahira’s voice, pictures of her and her family, and music in the background. The story itself is a beautiful, but tragic story. A story we, unfortunately hear too often.

    Reflection #ILT 5340

    by
This week was difficult to get through, mostly due to some personal travel and family emergencies.  However, I have gotten through all the work.  I personally really enjoyed my digital story, even though it wasn’t what I expected.  It was still interesting to see how they grow and how they chemically change when cooked.  I […]

    New Literacies #ILT 5340

    by
I read chapter 6 of New Literacies this week.  I appreciated that they started the chapter with defining the topic that they’d be covering in the chapter.  It helped to set the stage.  I think that it is quite interesting that weak ties and networking are more prominent than close knit groups.  It reminds me […]

I have a little cartoon I like to draw and his name is Rex Patrick. When I saw today’s daily create challenging us to create a drawing using Triangulart I knew I would have to try to make Rex. I like the simple nature of this program and it was fun to experiment. I wish there […]

Profiled, Questioned, Detained, and Deported – Digital Story Critique Wk 13

    by
I am in my third semester of the graduate program in eLearning Design and Implementation at The University of Colorado, Denver. Each week we critique a digital story.  This week I am critiquing The Worst Job In New York: Immigrant America a digital story related to my theme, social justice.   The Worst Job In New York is an episode of Vice’s Immigrant America. This digital story addresses the human and business toll of our broken immigration system.  The story illustrates the results of
