Just an update on my groups video project! Right now, we should all be working on our individual Vlog posts and doing all the editing. Our plan is for each of ours to be about 5 minutes long. I did some filming today, and will finish up tomorrow. I keep getting weird looks as I … Continue reading Group Update
For this assignment I had to choose one of my favorite athletes and create a highlight reel video. I selected the famous ice skater, Carolina Kostner. She is an Italian figure skater and has been a role model for me since I was little. In 2003, the Figure skating world championships was held in Washington … Continue reading Highlight Reel of one of my favorite athletes
I’m not really into basketball. So, today’s daily create was pretty easy for me to exclude basketball while still focusing on the idea of March Madness. Check out my tweet to see what I decided on for today’s daily create challenge! @ds106dc #tdc1540 #ds106 Some sort of March Madness for today's daily create! Wishing it … Continue reading March 27, 2016 Daily Create

So, for this week, we turned out attention to video where I realized that despite having seen more movies than almost anyone I know, I know almost nothing about the film making process that guides them or what makes them good. In watching the “Every Frame a Painting” my owns were pried open to recognize […]
My week of reckoning! The video group worked together on a lot of the ideas this week, and I’m glad to have been part of that. I had seen some of these videos focusing on the intricacies of film before, but I really enjoyed Tony Zhou’s videos, and will continue to watch them beyond this … Continue reading Week 10 Summary
For this assignment, you have to use sign language to spell out a word or words. I wanted to connect this to my character, Luke Nelson, so I spelled out his name! I had never done sign language before, so it was actually quite difficult for me, even when I was looking at a sheet … Continue reading Video Assignment – Signing Words
This week I completed three assignments, totaling 11 stars along with the mandatory assignment. But before this I reflected on a movie scene picked from Django Unchained. While working through the assignments this week, I tried to keep in mind the angles of my shots and my position within the shot. I knew there was […]
This is my brief analysis for the gas station scene from No Country for Old Men. I’ve used the scene before, creating a gif of the coin toss, but it’s so good that I can’t let it go after one use. I explain a few elements of the scene that stand out to me, but … Continue reading Video Essay

I finished two daily creates this week. For the first one I made up the lamest excuse I could think of. @ds106dc #tdc1534 #ds106 my dog ate my daily create — Michael Anzelmo (@mezzmello) March 21, 2016 My next daily create was a technical lecture condensed into less than 24 seconds. @ds106dc #tdc1538 #ds106 Barley, […]
Week 10 was not as difficult as I thought it would be. I was especially nervous for the Video Essay portion of the week. This assignment was a lot more fun than anticipated. I really enjoyed choosing a scene and applying my thoughts and ideas on the directorial choices and what I got from it. … Continue reading "Week 10 Summary"
Django Unchained Movie Essay – Commentary I struggled with this post to overlap the audio with the scene. I attempted to do so on iMovie and wasn’t able to figure it out. I did really enjoy getting to watch this movie over again though, it really is enjoyable.
I really enjoy film and film analysis. While I enjoy watching films, I haven’t gotten the hang of making them. I found How to Structure a Video Essay extremely helpful for this assignment. Even though my video editing skills are waaaaaay behind his, it gave me some good ideas on how to properly edit my voice … Continue reading "Video Essay"
So in this video I am pitching, this is one of my favorite things to do! I love baseball and I would possibly consider it more than a hobby. Baseball is usually what I do in my free time, when I’m not playing, I’m usually watching it. In this post, I found a video […]
I was not looking forward to this week involving video because I have little experience when it comes to editing and all that fun stuff, but I actually ended up really liking it! It was good to learn how to use iMovie, as well learn all the different things that go into film making that … Continue reading Week Ten: 3/25/16
This week was an interesting one. I had a rough start to the week with my grandpa in the ICU so I was a little distracted and it took me a little bit to get to all my assignments. Good news is I was still able to do almost everything. We had to do 2 … Continue reading "Week 10: A Week Full of Videos"
So as you know if you’ve read my post about our new video, The Travelin’ Gals are making a second debut in a spoof of a Parks and Rec episode Galentine’s Day. For our show, we are going to use our own characters, as puppets, in a Western town having their own Galentine’s Day. Galentine’s … Continue reading "Going Out On the Town"
For this assignment, we had to create a short video of our favorite thing to do. Well mine is obvious, I love to play field hockey. I have played basically my entire life just about 365 days a year and have dedicated a lot of time, money, and heart to the game. To make this video … Continue reading I could do this all night
I completed the two and a half star assignment Exercise and Socialize. I walk my dog daily in the neighborhood, so choosing this assignment made sense. Using my iPhone and a friend, I recorded myself walking through my neighborhood: To complete this video I chose the Mr. Roger’s neighborhood theme song. I found it appropriate and […]
For my video essay, I chose to do the scene from Django Unchained where Shultz and Django are trying to save Broomhilda from Candie’s plantation. The scene uses a few different techniques to enhance the moment and the story. Here’s a little summary of what I thought: `The scene begins with 2 women bringing Broomhilda to … Continue reading "Video Essay. Django Unchained."
I videoed myself doing my favorite thing at the moment for the three and a half star assignment My Favorite Thing To Do. I chose this assignment so I could share my current favorite hobby. I can only do it so often nowadays. Honestly, I miss the days where I could practice it everyday. Here it […]
Howdy y’all, Our group has decided to get back together the rodeo radio group and show a live showing of the rodeo that happened last week in the Dallas Annual Classic. The Rodeo Radio show members have been awarded this opportunity for this weeks “Watch Radio” Tv show. This is a cool opportunity for Huston […]
We were directed to review a video this week for the Video Essay assignment. I chose to review the opening scene from Django Unchained. I chose to watch this movie as opposed to another movie simply due to its accessibility on Netflix. It begins in the middle of nowhere featuring opening credits in red. These opening credits standout in contrast […]
I’ve got a lot of favorite things I enjoy, but this one seemed fitting after coming home from a long week. My dog Boomie loves everyone. She is the most un-loyal dog there is! All I had to do was walk through my door and act excited. I filmed this using a horizontal view on … Continue reading "Video Assignment – My Favorite Thing To Do"
It all started with a simple text from Maria: “Wanna do the video assignment together?” That’s when it fell into place. And obviously we had to bring Kelly, our fellow radio show host, in on the group. I suggested we do something with puppets, it allows us to create very unique and silly characters we … Continue reading "Video Show Week 1"
Since we have a pretty loose idea of what we wanted to do, I chose to keep it fairly open to interpretation. I ripped the opening scene from youtube and uploaded it into Windows Live Movie Maker. I then downloaded some images of puppets and spliced them together (we don’t know how we’re going to … Continue reading "Video Show Trailer"
