Here’s another bumpersticker for a commercial I’m doing for the radio show. I’m working on a Kentucky Fried Chicken commercial, and I’ll want a graphic for the SoundCloud posting when I get it done, so I decided to go ahead and do it now to get me in a chickeny mood. This is for a […]
This week will be dedicated almost entirely to working on and finishing the radio shows. To this end…
Blogging Radio Show Progress
Each member of the group will be required to blog about their progress on the radio show before Wednesday, October 15th. … Continue reading →
Inspired by the WaffleStomper, I thought I’d try remixing a song and some speech. Keeping with The Wire theme, I was also inspired by the speech that Major Colvin gave about the history of the paper bag. I decided to … Continue reading →
A minor character who makes his debut in this week’s episodes is the Deacon. I’m not sure if he has a name beyond that. He’s played by Melvin Williams, a former Baltimore drug kingpin who served as a partial template … Continue reading →
DS106 Radio Show Planning This week I opened a Google Doc for planning the radio show with my group. At first we were confused on whether or not we had to include the audio content we made this week in our radio show, but after clarifying, we started to bounce…
Hey guys! Here is my weekly summary! I am definitely enjoying this time off that and I hope you guys are too! This week was another week filled with audio. At first I thought this was a daunting week but I really enjoyed it! These assignments were a great distraction from my actual work since…
I decided to take on the challenge of the audio assignment “A Story of Lyrics” (3 stars) and use a quote I recall from the beginning of The Wire from Bunk. For some reason I found and used another variation of the quote (I guess the quote is repeated later…
This week has been somewhat mystic and out of the ordinary. I guess some of this can be attributed to the lack of a presence from Big Brother Groom ( his circumstances well understood), it just always seems that he is a reminder that there is something we should be doing at all times that […]
Weekly Summary Week 6 Assignments (3) Totaling 10 Stars For this weeks assignments I completed three audio assignments to total a little over 10 stars in order to warm up for week 7’s radio show with my team mates. The assignments I completed were first a moment in Group Ideas & Thoughts this week we …
Well, we have made it to the end of yet another week. Between break and midterms, we have all been rather busy. I can’t say for certain, but I hope this week’s post will brighten your break! The Wire This week, I got to see how the story behind the Sobotkas ended and I got […]
DS106ers might find this easy… I chose to do the assignment “Reverse Audio Quiz” (2.5 stars) as I already had a song in mind to use. To reverse the audio, I downloaded an MP3 file of the song and uploaded it to Audacity. After selecting the entire song clip on…
Building my Audacity Friendship For the audio assignment Create a DS106 Radio Bumper (1.5 stars) I used Audacity to upload, mix, and edit several recorded clips. To begin this assignment, I asked two of my roommates to allow me to record them saying “DS106″. On Audacity I recorded myself saying…
Below is my logo for the Wire 106 group radio project! For the text colors, I pulled subtle colors from the screenshot. I took this screenshot from Season 2, Episode 9 of The Wire to demonstrate symmetry during design week and thought it would make a great background to my…
Usually in works of fiction, the number 7 shows up an exorbitant number of times as a special number. 7 years, 7 gods, 7 kingdoms, lucky 7, 7 valar, etc. The number 7 is even considered the favorite number amongst a high number of people (radiolab has a cool segment on that here.) So it’s […]
If this message has gotten out, then I’ve probably been captured by the powers that be. They had eyes and ears everywhere man. I thought I could avoid them forever, but they were too resourceful. They feared how much I knew. Well those big heads in the government probably didn’t bank on me keeping a […]
October 6, 2014 For this daily create, called “Your weird and wonderful DS106 letterhead”, I used GIMP to create a letterhead that included some of the things we’ve done so far in the class. Starting with a blank white layer, I downloaded a frequency image (to represent The Wire) from…
Week 7 is another week focused on audio assignments. These assignments are the most time consuming and hardest to complete so I found it to be a “scary” week of homework which fits perfectly with the Halloween month. I finished three audio works that involved a lot of sound effects and mixing together sound recordings […]
Song Mash-Up Assignment Worth 3 1/2 stars For my last audio assignment I had to mash up two distinct songs. I thought what better place to start then children’s nursery rhymes and songs. So I picked the most up beat song which was London Bridge is Falling Down (original song) The song above war originally …
This week was a fairly light one, I thought. I thought twelve stars of audio assignments was kind of a lot but it was not too bad to actually do them. My First Radio Bumper: The first audio assignment I did this week was the DS106 Radio bumper (1.5 stars). I didn’t do it in the […]
This a a sequence of sound effects meant to mimic a home break in. First the perpetrator knocks on the door, then kicks it open. Gun shots are fired where a man screams. The perpetrator then reloads the pistol. This scene is something I thought would fit into the Wire because of the violence.
Week 7 happened in a blur. This week has been rough with all classes because of bloody midterms. They suck, don’t they? That’s why this week went by so freaking fast. I was grateful to have ds106 as a relaxer. Audio is by far my favorite aspect of ds106 so far. I enjoy Design but […]
I fell behind a bit on last week’s design work for Wire 106, and I know folks are already onto audio assignments and radio shows. But while I was in NYC I took along my camera and decided to do my … Continue reading →
RUTHLESS The second audio assignment which I had to do was to recite an original poem through this audio assignment with 3 1/2 stars. I decided to go raw on this one as I found that audio may detract from what my original statement intended to be during my audio recording. This was my own …
Episode summaries: I couldn’t listen to the commentary broadcasts on ds106 Radio because of scheduling conflicts, but I was able to download and listen to them on Saturday morning instead. I lined up the video in one window and started the commentary in another and synched them that way so it made for a really […]
