    I Go Back.

    by
SongStory by Jerry [3/10] Stars I chose to take part in this audio assignment because of the song, I Go Back by Kenny Chesney. I have country roots and this song is my home-run song… LITERALLY it makes me feel like I am back home. This song has so many lyrics that just mean the world to me. The song talks about church, believing, faith, lost of a loved one, young love. It pretty much describes me in a nutshell. I love this song and play it almost everyday. You can jam it to or even cry, this song brings you to emotions you didn’t even know you are feeling. … Continue reading

Episode 275: Two Steps Back [Listening to stories]

    by
For this assignment, I decided to listen to This American Life’s Episode 275: Two Steps Back. What a GREAT story, it pulls you in and makes you FEEL this story. The producers used raw emotions, sound effects, layering of sounds with music in the background to convey the emotion toll of this story. This story tells the frustrations of this teacher and the pain the situation causes her and the students and community. The audio kept me attentive throughout the entire hour of the story. The producers put in background-music that helped you to sympathize with this heartbroken teacher. I never noticed before how much influence background music has on … Continue reading

Can You Hear Me NOW? [audio storytelling]

    by
To start off DS106 Week 4 – Learning to Listen, we were asked to watch a series of videos (five to be exact) to get a feel of what’s expected for the week and to listen/learn from some experts about radio storytelling. The first part of first assignment was to watch a series of FOUR videos by Ira Glass, host of This American Life, a weekly radio storytelling show on National Public Radio! The First of FOUR, was about the basics of radio storytelling, and do’s and don’ts, and types/storyboards. I enjoyed this first one because it caught my attention and gave me thorough insight. He also made sure to … Continue reading

I had a good time coming up with the title, I hope you have a good laugh (: I think my opinion on storytelling has remained the same, I think it’s just been slightly broaden to the effects of bringing the “coolness” factor to the table (: Next, I was asked to watch Kurt Vonnegut on the Shapes of Stories, … Continue reading

    It’s like talking to a forehead…

    by
Have your parents ever said to you, “I love looking at your forehead.”  Do you know what they’re implying? … GET OFF YOUR PHONE! Now, I am not here to bash technology but in this day in age I feel as if more and more kids are ignoring their parents words of wisdom by constantly being on a cellphone… What a blessing as a human to be able to communicate emotions, words, actions. Sometimes I feel as if people overlook the lack of communication happening in our society. Put down your phone when you’re talking to your parents, friends, acquaintances. They don’t deserve to have to stare at your forehead. … Continue reading
