    “Gotta have opposites”

    by
I was tasked with identifying a particular emotion and selecting three songs that I believe capture this feeling for this assignment. The first song captured me from the first time I heard it. I love all types of music but have a special place for the sixties and seventies music. David Gilmour helped shape Pink Floyd into the eclectic sound that created a revolution in music. His solo album “There’s No Way Out Of Here”, which was recorded between Dark Side of the Mood and The Wall, features this song of the same name. The next song “Where Is My…

Inspiration can come from unexpected results.

    by
Wow, ok, this was definitely a shorter wiki post than what I was expecting. My assignment was to write about a randomly-selected Wikipedia page. The time, 1960. The place, Rome, Italy. Birgit Jensen had prepared for this event for a long time. The Olympics K-2 500 m sprint canoe event. I’m not sure how many of my readers have experienced rowing, but it is the pinnacle of cardiovascular exercise and can take a lot out of a person who is not prepared. Unfortunately for Birgit, she did not fare well in this event and placed 5th. However, I like to…

    Just One Night.

    by
I have entered a world of unknowns… do my eyes deceive me?! I must need glasses, I think. I soon remember about the contest! I’m inside a game, and they told me before I entered that if I made it through the night, I would move on to the next round. I don’t have much time till the sun goes down by the looks of this blocky land’s sky. I have entered a world of unknowns… do my eyes deceive me?! I must need glasses, I think. I soon remember about the contest! I’m inside a game, and they told…

“Is the weekend here yet?” or “So much to learn too little time”

    by
I have been channeling my inner Bob Ross all week, and after that GIF assignment, I need to remind myself that sometimes we all run into problems, which is just part of the creative flow. This week was great however, I learned a lot with my programming classes and #ds106! This week’s daily creates were a lot of fun, and I especially liked the AI art generator one. The tweet suggested a website that did not work very well for me. For anyone interested, this is the alternative site that I used. My favorite assignment this week was making a…

So much stuff!!! Why GIF so Challenging!!

    by
Hey everyone, for my final assignment this week, I chose to do one that covered editing a GIF. I thought this would be a relatively easy assignment, but oh no, user beware… I started this assignment by looking up how to edit animations in Gimp, which has been a helpful tool this week, but it is not very user intuitive. After some time, I decided to look up a guide. This one here was helpful, and even more, I tried to install an additional plug-in from this recommendation. But alas, these were fruitless. My next attempt was searching for online gif editors. As a…

Feed Me More Paper – Wade

    by
For this assignment I was tasked with making a short song on Chrome Music Lab. The title of the song is Feed Me More Paper, and symbolizes the oppression of the Printers’ stuggle with a lack of food-supply from it’s cruel masters. The Printers are coming to take over the digital art landscape, no one can escape! I wanted to write a short little song in a minor key. It kind of transformed into this rythmic pattern that reminded me of paper printing. I think for a short little song this little creative app works well enough but I didn’t…

What’s the big deal – Privacy on the Web

    by
I was particularly interested in this web assignment because I love technology! For the first half of the work, I was asked to count the number of open-source programs on my computer. I am a Computer science major, and I am also studying cybersecurity. The laptop I use for my daily tasks has Ubuntu Linux for its operating system. As a result, most of my programs are open source. However, I think the author of this assignment may be confused as to what the opposite type of program is called. Closed source software means that a company or individual does…
