Stringer and Avon Fight Chipmunk Style

    by
For my first video assignment this week I decided to do “Chipmunk Style” (2.5 stars). I figured it would be a good introduction to how Windows Move Maker works. Not super hard but not super easy either. When I was watching the episode I knew that I had to do this assignment for that scene. […]

    What is it?

    by
I did yesterday’s daily create just in the nick of time. Obviously by the time I decided to do it, it was dark outside so to make it hard to tell what the object was I had to make it dark in the room as well. It may be obvious what it is, nevertheless I […]

Emperor’s New Groove in 5 Seconds

    by
For the 5 Second Film assignment worth 4.5 stars, I chose to condense the Emperor’s New Groove in 5 seconds. Originally I thought this assignment was going to be really easy, but then I discovered just how fast 5 seconds go by. Another issue I ran into was that all of the best parts of the movie […]

    TV Trailer

    by
Hi! So my first assignment, Trailer It (3 stars) was a lot of fun to make! I was deciding what I would make throughout the week and this one jumped out at me immediately. I am currently rewatching all of The Office on Netflix, when I get a free moment, and I thought this show would […]

    Simple Can Be Better

    by
Brittany Scites‘ assignment The Wire, Minimalist Style inspired me to think simpler. The needle she uses on the design is simple pretty much like clipart. Then Adding the quote “I need to get clean” Just pulled the design all together. I believe in the bottom right those are the viles which just adds detail to the […]

Lessons on How to Read a Moive by Ebert

    by
Lessons on How to Read a Movie by Ebert The article covered by Ebert entitled, “How to Read A Movie,” was extremely insightful and informative.   I have always been a movie buff and am pretty big on imagery and hidden meanings inside of films.   Ebert points out that the visual aesthetics of a film can convey …

    Simplicity at its Finest

    by
Inspiration Two I really liked this poster by Meredith. There is so much to be said for the lack of information in this poster. It is simple yet informs you about the theme in season two of The Wire. Another thing I like about her poster is the color. ...

    Class Portrait

    by
Inspiration One Kisha’s Daily Create was really inspiring because it incorporated so much into a simple daily create. She took everyone’s Avatars (including Stringer, McNulty, Avon, and other Wire characters) and created a “class portrait” in the words of Jim Groom. A very simple thought that goes a long way. Really cool!

    More inspiration of creativity

    by
http://www.tpeedhispants.com/assignments/my-dog-lucy-as-a-cartoon/ This author’s idea was inspiring because they used online resources and a photo they already had to create something new and creative. This will help give me more options when completing new assignments.

    Inspired 2: Wafflestomper

    by
For my second inspire post this week I chose Wafflestomper’s (great name) post on the Downton Abbey/Wire mashup- Downton Shabby. It was totally hilarious and as I watch both shows, I understood it. The juxtaposition of high class British society with the Wire’s broken down Baltimore was too perfect. This post inspired me to be […]

    His Master’s Voice

    by
Today’s Daily Create was to make an interesting indoor photo with the blinds closed so that your audience has to guess at the contents in your photo.  Cool and imaginative!  I went over to my parents’ house and took a picture in their living room of an object that used to belong to my grandparents. […]

    Daily Create: Veil of Darkness

    by
Okay that title is way more dramatic than it actually is. For today’s daily create, we had to take a picture of something with the blinds closed. While the room got plenty dark, unfortunately I think my subject is pretty unrecognizable due to the location. I was in the lab while reading today’s daily create, […]

    Rest In Peace, D’Angelo Barksdale

    by
Inspired by Alison I was so enlightened by Alison’s READ poster as it featured the now deceased D’Angelo Barksdale. Throughout Seasons 1 and 2 of The Wire, I could tell D’Angelo’s perspective on his life and the game was changing. He seemed unhappy back on the streets, as well as…

    A Sketch of Grief

    by
Inspired by Lauren Going through all the old DS106 design assignments, I came across a really cool cartoon-like sketch. After opening the post, I saw that it was modeled after a screen shot from the The Wire. I think Lauren did an excellent job at sketching a shot from the…
