    Hear it Here

    by
One day I was sure I wanted to go to the shore. I mean who doesn’t want to see the sea? I hopped in the car with two of my friends to go to the ocean. We were determined to go there whether the weather was good or not. Once we got there, my ... Read more

    Radio Show Week 1

    by
The start of this week organizing the group was really difficult! We were going to get together in person, but everyone had different crazy schedules so we weren’t able to meet in person. We started a Google Doc and all wrote down ideas and then made a group message to discuss the possible options and ... Read more

Have a Phone Conversation with Yourself

    by
For this conversation, I pretended I was me and my actual best friend Natalie. I altered my voice to a “country” accent for Natalie since she lives in Louisiana, and then had my voice as regular. We normally talk about random things so I just talked about random things in this conversation as well! ... Read more

    Raindrops and Rooftops

    by
Archives For this assignment, we had to imitate the sound of weather using objects only within reach of the computer. Sounds easy, right? Not so much. I picked this one because it seemed like it would be fun but it was harder than I thought. First of all, I don’t have much within reach of my computer. Second of all, imitating weather sounds is harder than I thought! Even “cheating” a bit and widening my range of useable objects, weather sounds are not easy to imitate and even harder to make sound legitimate. I tried banging pots and slamming doors […]

    Memory Lane

    by
Archives For this assignment, I chose to take a stroll down memory lane. The assignment is to pick a song that reminds me a certain time/place/or memory and then talk about it. I chose “Don’t Stop Believin’ ” by Journey. It always reminds me of my junior year in high school. That was the only year I ran cross country (I ended up breaking my ankle and requiring surgery that spring) and this song was basically our theme song! One of the memories that really stands out for me is at one of our meets. It was in the fall […]

    Mission Check-In: Week 7

This week’s mission focus on our group radio show was intriguing! Radio Show Thoughts

    by
So originally my group had ideas of: “sexspionage”: Interesting historical stories we can find of manipulation through intimacy or close friendships. We want to know if spies ever let their emotions compromise their missions. Anonymous online transaction currencies like Bitcoin, technology or the Internet Historical or current events talk show relating to spies. A collaborative …

    Daily Create 3/3/17

    by
This was a really cool Daily Create. I’ve seen similar stuff on Vsauce and a few other places, but I haven’t heard of the Museum of Endangered Sounds. Check it out if you haven’t.   @ds106dc https://t.co/yPJ2kiAl5v#tdc1881 — Daniel Hawkins (@Hawkins10000) March 4, 2017

    Itā€™s Almost Here!

    by
Archives For our audio stars this week, I know our focus was supposed to be on material we could use for our radio shows and the class theme in general. In keeping with that aim, I chose to create another ds106 radio bumper that also advertised my groups upcoming radio show! My first step was to find some background music. I really wanted something dramatic but in the end, I felt like a radio bumper needs to be more upbeat so I chose some bass sounds. Next, I had to figure out what to say. I tried recording it freestyle […]

    ā€œMalicious StopGateā€ Malware Commercial

    by
For this 3.5 point audio assignment, I was instructed to create a commercial, preferably for my group’s DS106 Radio show on Sexspionage. Since my own secret agent character, Wren Wilder/003, is a fan of technological security, I decided it would be fitting for our station to promote malware and ransomware protection through security software such … Continue reading "“Malicious StopGate” Malware Commercial"

    Sexspionage Radio Show Progress

    by
This week, my DS106 Sexspionage Radio show group was formed. After early group communications through our Google Doc, we limited our options for a show topic to something that included historic spy content (Such as sexspionage), involvement of our own secret agent characters somehow, and discussing technological gadgetry involved in these forms of spying. After … Continue reading "Sexspionage Radio Show Progress"
