    Reverse audio

    by
This audio assignment is called reverse audio and is where you take a song from your iTunes account and reverse it in Audacity. It is worth 3.5 stars and brings me over the 12 star minimum. You then create three hints about the song. The first hint is it is from a musical about a …

    “Limetown”

    by
Archives Tonight, I finally had a chance and was awake late enough to listen to story time on ds106 Radio! It was not at all what I expected which made it that much better. I wasn’t sure I would be able to follow along for a full hour but the story drew me in almost as soon as it started, even though I didn’t even know what was going on. While the story drew me, tweeting back and forth with everyone else helped me understand what was going on better. It even helped bring some comedy to what is actually […]

    Tweet Along!

    by
This tweet along was about one of my most favorite podcast, Limetown. If you have never heard of this podcast, you need to look it up. Its about a girl who investigates the disappearance of an entire town. The two episodes that we listened to were intense and was very fun to listen to. The …

    Let it go!!!

    by
I am not much of a rock-and-roll person but I really enjoyed listening to Let it go’s rock version. I found that the rock version captivated emotions of the song well and it also triggered similar yet different emotions from me. I cannot really say which one I like better; although I am an advocate for original versions of songs, …

    Good Morning Message

    by
This assignment was called good morning message for the village and it was worth 2.5 stars. All you had to do was create a nice message for the villagers to wake up to. I channeled my inner Wisconsinite again and made a little message about black bears...

    Colors of the Wind

    by
This assignment took a really long time for me to complete, mostly because I could not find clips with singers singing the same versions of the song. I did not anticipate such time consumption because I started with a thought, “It’ll be easy; I will find two versions of the same song and combine them using a mashup program.” Little …

    Moon Graffiti

    by
Archives “Moon Graffiti” was really amazing to listen to. I never really knew how well sound could set the stage and tell a story. The music in the background to the recorded conversation really set the mood and intensified everything. It added suspense to the whole story. When they found bad damage, the music changed. During the speech at the end, the music took on a sad, eerie quality. Some of the music heard reminded me of the music played during movies and tv shows when people are in space or when there are aliens so it definitely made me […]

    Radio bumper

    by
I just finished the assignment called create a radio bumper. I had a major struggle with this one but I’m happy with how it turned out. I got some cool downloads from free sound effects sites and used my own voice to create the bumper for a radio station I made up called station W-KAY. …

    Live tweeting!

    by
I live tweeted for the first time! That was an experience. I am not a really big fan of live-tweeting because it takes a lot of work and I don’t like to multi-task while watching something but since it was just listening, it wasnt too bad. Listening to limewire was pretty cool! It’s a very well done podcast … Continue reading "Live tweeting!"

    Watch the Sunset Disappear

    by
Archives For this assignment, I had to choose a song, find a video for it, and then record a clip of why it means so much for me. It was a toss up for me between “Drink a Beer” by Luke Bryan and “You Should be Here” by Cole Swindell. They honestly both mean a lot to me but for the same reasons. In the end, I chose “Drink a Beer” by Luke Bryan because it resonated just a little bit more to me. For those who haven’t heard the song or who aren’t country music fans, it’s a beautiful […]

    My Day Through Sound

    by
Archives For this assignment, I had to take sound clips from throughout my day and combine them into one long clip. My family went snowboarding last weekend at Wintergreen Resort and I thought that would be a fun time to take the recordings. I don’t actually have a voice recorder or anything so I ended up recording the sounds as videos on my iPhone. Then, I used audacity to upload them and combine them together. I actually had to download an Audacity add-on in order to use the sound from the videos so that was an extra step. Once I […]

    Audio Storytelling

    by
I really like the “Moon Graffiti” podcasts. While I was listening I could make out all the sounds that was in it. The sounds were so real that I could close my eyes and I could see the astronauts and their struggles on the moon. It is crazy how they made a separate letter in […]

    Week 5 Summary

    by
Halfway through the week and I have gotten through most of the assignments. This week has been a real challenge learning the basics with audacity which the only other experience I previously had was in Spanish 101 back in high school recording my voice. All of the extra additional opportunities of layering sounds I didn’t … Continue reading Week 5 Summary

    Voicemail?

    by
When I was flipping through the Assignment bank and came across Movie Voice Machines I got pretty excited. It was 3 stars. It immediately reminded me of a scene in the tv show Futurama. The basic premise was that one character Bender left his roommate Fry on another planet but did not want to get […]
