Wait, your class is on Twitter?!

    by
Ok, so I know everyone is thinking it, Twitter, really?  Mariah, what kind of master’s program did you sign up for?  Is there a prince in a small country you’ve never heard of that you are donating money to as well?  Are you sure you aren’t being catfished? How can you do anything to do […]

Get a Read on This: Week 1 Story Critique

    by
For my first digital story critique, I have selected a talk from TEDxCharleston by Andrew Roskill titled “Get a read on this – libraries bridging the digital divide”. I have chosen this story for a number of reasons including my interest in libraries as a library professional, my interest in the role of libraries as […]

    Eye Literate

    by
Rules of communication are changing. Radically. Beyond how we engage with each other through social media. Beyond how we consume and generate new information. Beyond, even, the emergence of an entirely new class of skills called the 21st Century Literacies. If we look deeper than all of this, we see that communication is becoming more […]

    Three Ways to Happiness

    by
My first Daily Create for ds106 is a collage of things that make me happy. I was extatic to discover that you can now add Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life to your Netflix list and it will show up when it becomes available. I can hardly wait! I feel a Gilmore Girls marathon coming on! I recently had…

First Daily Create: A crash and burn event

    by
I have been grueling for days over the syllabus of one of my grad classes, ILT5340: Learning with Digital Stories.  I’m a very visual/audio learner who really benefits from seeing examples of expectations and hearing steps/directions out loud.  Plus, I’m the student that asks a million and two questions and writes the answers down, color-coded, […]

Do you see what I see?

    by
This is my first Visual Assignment!  For this assignment participants were asked to take a close up picture of something and see if anyone could guess what it is. I chose this assignment for a couple reasons.  One, I’m new to all of this.  The syllabus for this class had my head spinning and I’m struggling […]

My Very First #dailycreates post for ILT5430 Digital Storytelling Course

    by
I am so excited that the summer course finally started. The agenda for the first week is FULL. Here is my first tweet #Dailycreates. I love gardening. Last week my husband made the raised flower bed and we dumped 30 bags of soil into the bed. We both were exhausted at end of the day.But I am so happy with the progress. The picture on the top is my tomatoes in the garden, getting bigger everyday. Looking good! The picture on the bottom is the fern I found at the local nursery. I put it on the top

    Getting my create on

    by
My first Daily Create! I won’t share how long it took…between my struggle with image size, switching between desktop and iPhone, and my general over-analyzing…it’s embarrassing. A Daily Create asking me to share what has made me happy recently was not a difficult task though, once I fought with the tech for a bit. Sharing happiness is important … Continue reading "Getting my create on"
