    Radio Bumper Cars

    by
This assignment was to get a basic feeling for how audacity works and just get a general idea of what tools it has to offer. I already have experience with audacity from using it in other classes so it wasn’t that hard to get back into. I have also experimented with other music production software …

    Project MKOinktra

    by
I decided to tune in to DS106 Radio on Tuesday and hear what all the fuss is about. Initially I had problems connecting to the radio station using Google Chrome. This tweet was my call for help while I experienced desperation. @phb256 All I get is "Network Error" — Daniel Z (@UMWdan) February 15, 2017 …

    Agent Smith – Limetown

    by
Fellow Agent! We must find out where Leah as disappeared to! I was listening to a broadcast about how Leah was getting a personal interview about the whereabouts of her Uncle, which turned into a kidnapping a murder as the interviewee took a pill to kill herself rather than be taken alive! Where has she […]

    DS106 radio final impressions

    by
The show ended up having way more depth than I had ever expected, both in plot and given the sheer amount of  expertly used sound effects. My favorite aspect was probably the sheer potency that came from how they would weave sound effects in between dialogue in a way that constantly brings in audience attention. The amount of engagement that could happen despite there effectively being one less sensory perception was simply astounding. I don’t know what else I can say to be honest.

    Radio Show

    by
So I was thinking about this over the course of the week and I thought it would be awesome to do something along the lines of a dialogue based radio show. Not a talk show, but more of a reporting type of thing. The best example I can think of is the podcast Serial, which …

    Mashup

    by
Was running into a bit of trouble putting something together with all of the copy rights and being able to import different sounds. Anyway my favorite mashup at the moment is below. The transition is very smooth between songs and personally I feel the beat has a calming effect to it. Maybe you will have the same … Continue reading Mashup

    Let’s Play a Guessing Game

    by
Archives For this assignment, I had to pick one of my favorite songs, remove the lyrics from it, and then create a 30 second clip of the music. The goal is for people to be able to guess what song it is. I won’t tell you what song I chose obviously but I will tell you it’s a country pop song. I honestly have no idea how to remove the words from a song, despite all my playing around on Audacity so I had to find an instrumental version of it on YouTube. Luckily you can find just about anything […]

    Daily Create Week 5

    by
Archives Only 3 Daily Creates this week, not too bad. I did have a little trouble with some of the prompts but oh well, here we go! First up, show a picture of a choice. I couldn’t decide which movie I wanted to see Sunday night! @ds106dc tdc#1862 To see or not to see, that is the question! pic.twitter.com/vGuVYYYc29 — Krystal Heflin (@k_heflin) February 13, 2017 Next, a picture of something upside that looks cool upside down. Now this isn’t a photo I took or technically an upside down object but I took a little creative liberty here 🙂 @ds106dc […]

    Agent Smith – Sound Effects

    by
This week…..I am required to do a bunch of audio testing for new spy equipment that will be supplied to all….super secret spys in the agency. For starters, this is just a test to show whether or not you can make a story…out of only sounds! First…I decided to pick sounds of a guy running […]

    Agent Smith – Radio Ideas

    by
Greetings fellow agents. I am working undercover and have to come up with some radio ideas for a show in several weeks. Perhaps we can do a super secret super secret spy theme, like James Bond? or Austin Powers-themed? That would be…..groovy.  Could be about Austin Powers being in the clutches of Dr. Evils lair, […]

“Moon Graffiti” reflection: the moon landing was fake

    by
Just kidding, I’m not one of those weird conspiracy theorists. I didn’t know exactly what audio storytelling was like or could entail, but this was very entertaining. I was certainly drawn in the whole time. The organization of the story was very well done, where I first thought it was real, then the narrator backed …

    Moon Graffiti

    by
Moon Graffiti was a fictional podcast published on SoundCloud. Listen below: This creation was actually awesome. It was incredibly high quality and recorded well, and the voice acting I thought was very believable and well done. There are some many details about this production that I just really enjoyed. To start with, the quality of … Continue reading "Moon Graffiti"

    Moon Graffiti

    by
This radio program was really interesting and I liked how it was kind of a behind-the-scenes story from history, something not many people know about. It was definitely intriguing to listen to. As for the audio aspect, they did a really great job with the sounds. In the beginning, they had the speech and then ... Read more

    Moon Vandalism

    by
Sound is one of the most important aspects in telling a story. Sound drives the feelings, emotion, and help create a connection between the audience and the scene itself.  In a movie you can both see and hear what is going on where as in “Moon Graffiti” you can only hear. Here the sound plays …

    Radio Tweet Along 3

    by
February 15 Continuing on to the third radio show. The Lime Town continues its mystery but this time we can finally get some answers. Lia Haddock is interviewing another survivor. It is crazy how the world is still trying to find answers on the missing people but it seems there is a lot of survivors. […]

    Radio Show – Day 3

    by
Now that I am much more familiar with Limetown and the story, I was excited to tune in today (even the though the broadcast is during my bed time!!!!!). Once again, the story didn’t really pick up where it left off the previous show. I do like that every show it introduces new, fresh characters ... Read more

    Radio Show – Day 2

    by
Today I tuned into the radio show from the beginning and I knew everything that was happening! The show got increasing mysterious. They largely use eerie background music to set the scene, and it really works. It actually makes the listener feel spooked. I thought it was a little confusing because they didn’t necessarily pick ... Read more
