    Love at the cat

    by
The couple stood on their front porch step to say goodbye. A normal couple thing to do for sure. It starts with standing at each others doorsteps for dates after dates, until finally they are standing at their own front doorstep for their own home.  Just as Alice and Jack were doing right now. Standing […]

    Love at First Shot

    by
This was based on the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/love-at-first-shot/). I chose this picture because it doubled on the word play for shot, given it is a photo shoot and there are guns. Besides the goofy double use I actually like this picture for a couple. I like it because they are together and confident about being together despite how silly they look, which is something I feel should be a part of love rather than arbitrary “couples actions.” They also go for contrasting colors in this shot with the white in black, emphasizing not only their individuality, but how those

    That’s not what I expected

    by
This was based on the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/thats-not-what-i-expected/). I thought this would be interesting given how different certain things would look so close up rather than through the perspective we as hu...

    4 lines, 5 dots, 1 curve

    by
This was based off the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/4-lines-5-dots-1-curve/). I found this assignment really interesting because I had to really think in the abstract of not only what I could create with only 4 lines, ...

    Stencil Me Too!

    by
Archives The purpose of this assignment was to choose a photo, turn it into a stencil, and see how it changed, especially the focus. For the original photo, I chose one of a sunflower. It even has a little bee on it! I don’t have Photoshop or anything so I found this program online. My finished product was very different from what I expected! The sky, the other flower, and even the leaves from the main flower disappear. What I really enjoyed was that the bee from the original can still be seen in the stencil! The focus is still on the […]

    Shadow of a Doubt

    by
This was based on the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/shadow-of-a-doubt/). When I think of shadows my mind goes to shadow puppetry because it is so a fun and interesting way to convey a message. I really appreciate the pl...

    Photoblitzer

    by
As part of the weekly assignment I got to use this cool webpage called photoblitz where it gives you a list of things to take pictures of. My list was filled with some pretty cool things that I could take. The cool thing is that I was home this weekend and the list gave me …

    Photo Reflection

    by
I’ve never been much for taking pictures so my experience with photography is quite limited. When I do take pictures it is generally of things I find funny. Generally my shots are very shoddy given that I hunch over to take the pictures so my body blocks out a lot of the light. As such, all my pictures are shady and my phone’s camera is not the most optimized.

    Photo Reflection

    by
While reading ” Becoming a better photographer”, I found myself reflecting on a lot of things. As a kid to now, a college student, I always hated to be in pictures. Every time I even think or see a camera I cringe of the thought of being in the picture. Even now I am not […]

    Photography and Me

    by
Archives All things considered, my experience with photography is pretty limited. Of course when I was younger, I used the disposable camera and even had a real camera that required actual film and had to be taken to walmart or a pharmacy to get the pictures developed. I even had a polaroid that spit out the picture right away and you had to shake it. Boy did I love that thing! As technology moved on, so did I. As a teenager I got a nice(at the time) digital camera and actually held on to it for a couple years. The […]

    “Who am I?”

    by
I decided to pick the assignment ‘ That’s not what I expected” for the first required visual task.  The assignment was to take a close up a picture and have people guess what it is. The assignment was rated 3 stars which was accurate. This assignment seemed easy at first because I thought all you […]

    “Who said What?”

    by
I decided to pick the assignment ” Who said what” because out of the other two it seemed the easiest to do. The assignment was to find a picture of a well-known secret agent and pick a quote but from another secret agent but change the person who said the quote. I choose the picture […]

Continuing on to the second assignment for the Visual Week and I have a total of 6 and 1/2 stars out of the required 6 stars of the visual category assignment bank. I choose to do the visual assignment called ” Can You see what I see” . “Can You see what I see” was rated […]

    Love at First Shot

    by
The love at first shot assignment instructed me to find or take a pic of a couple in love and use the picture to tell a story. While I was looking for a picture, it is crazy how many of couples in love showed up so I picked a random picture of a couple in […]

    Photo Reflection

    by
I really liked what Jason Eskenazi had to say about his own photography and telling a story.  His use of angles and why he looks for depth and the story while he is doing it.  I think the best advice that stood out for me personally was being pickier about the photos I am taking.  […]

    Week 4

    by
Throughout my whole life I haven’t really been one to take photographs and study the art of photography. Like most art there are hidden applications that you use almost everyday without even thinking about it. The difference now is that I am becoming more and more aware of everything that can be done online through websites and apps. This … Continue reading Week 4
