Kayaking on the Rings of Saturn

    by
For my third assignment this week, I chose to do a Design Assignment. The design assignment task was to photoshop myself into a different environment. I had several ideas in mind but when this one came to mind I had to do it! I had a lot of fun with this assignment! I originally thought of photo shopping myself snorkeling in the snow but it didn’t turn out as great. So, I played around and came up with many different pictures but by far this one was my favorite. This is a photo of me kayaking at the summer camp I attended this summer, in which a few classmates and I served as camp counselors to children at risk. In the original kayaking photo I had one of the children sitting in front of me, but I decided to photo shop him out for privacy reasons. Again, I had a lot of fun with this assignment and spent about thirty minutes playing around with different photos. I’m not sure how I got the idea of using Saturn but once I thought of the idea, I googled a picture of Saturn and saved it to my phone. I then went to my PhotoshopMix (a version of Adobe photoshop), inserted the picture of Saturn and began searching for a picture to crop on the Saturn’s rings. I originally had a photo of me sitting on the rings but once I photo shopped the kayak in there, I liked it a lot more. I used the lasso tool to crop out any unwanted space in my kayaking picture, then placed it how I liked onto Saturn’s rings. The way I placed the picture was to make it look like I was kayaking on Saturn’s rings.

    Week Two Summary

    by
This was such an exciting week! I learned quite a lot and was able to meet so many people by reading posts. Looking ahead at the coming weeks, I think I am most excited about Week 4: Photography, Week 6: Design and Week 9: Web storytelling. I really enjoyed customizing my blog site! At first I was not sure how I wanted it to look like. I went through quite a few themes before choosing Ashe! I was going to try and go with darker colors and an undercover theme, but I was not happy with my blog when I had that. As I am sure you all can tell by now that I love sunflowers.. they make me so happy! So I went with a sunny atheistic, mirroring my personality. I am still trying to figure out the menus. I would like to add a few for better organization. Weekly Assignments The three weekly assignments a chose were extremely fun to complete! They definitely pushed my knowledge of digital storytelling, which made me even more excited for the rest of the semester. I was able to explore Photoshop more than I ever had in my entire life, and I love it! Web Assignment: https://ds106.faithmartino.com/weekly-assignments/the-woman-i-am-working-to-be/ Visual Assignment: https://ds106.faithmartino.com/weekly-assignments/the-secret-to-my-stress/ Design Assignment: https://ds106.faithmartino.com/weekly-assignments/sunflower-from-my-past/ Daily Creates Participation I really enjoy looking at everyone’s work and reading my classmates blogs! It was interesting to try and keep up with this portion. I felt like I kept getting lost on the website’s main page, not remembering how far I had scrolled down or who’s blog I had looked at. Also, I was not sure the best way to put all of my comments in this blog post. Was I supposed to save all of them? Maybe next week I will create my summary post in the beginning of the week and put all the links in it as I comment. Also, do I need to add all my participation? Should I be adding my Twitter and Instagram comments as well? I ended up not adding any, so we will see how next week goes. Weekly Summary #2

    by
This week was a really cool week. I finally got to start creating things! First off, I was introduced to Daily Creates. This week, I did four! My first Daily Create was more of a doing than creating. To celebrate MLK Day I decided to suggest that people use their free day to serve others. …

    Sweet Home Alabama

    by
For Wednesday’s Daily Create we were asked to find a lyric describing a real place, or thing in the world and see if we could create a literal drawing. I was actually in the Design Lab trying to learn the tools on Photoshop when I saw this tweet! I came up with a few other silly pictures but this one was my best drawing, so I went with literal creation of Sweet Home Alabama!

    Guess Where I Came From!

    by
For my third Daily Create we were asked to zoom in on nature! I took this picture a few days ago and thought it looked so cool! When I first held this object up, it looked like a tree to me, so I decided to take a picture of it from that perspective. The flash even makes it look like a moon is hiding in behind. Can you guess where it came from? Hint: Part of a fruit that is typically sold between November and January.

    Add More RAM(s)

    by
My second Daily Create was to explain something technical using furry animals. I’m not very technical but I looked up ways to make your computer faster and they suggested adding more ram! So I used a picture of rams and added the caption to the picture using a Meme generator online.
