    Contradiction Creation

    by
I did the Contradiction Creation design assignment where you create some graphics where the motivational message contradicts that of the background mood/theme. Pretty much like an anti-motivational poster. I used Canva to make this. I used one of the photos they allow people to use for free, and added text to make it look like...

    Dare to Design

    by
Design. Design. Design! This week has been one of those where you are thrown headfirst into something youā€™re familiar with but are allowed to experiment and do new things! Design was something I learned a lot about while doing photography, mainly because we were encouraged to think outside the box and create new things. I have since continued this idea of design as Iā€™ve learned about digital studies, using this domain, and doing creative coding projects for other classes. This week allowed me to familiarize myself with some more artistic concepts I have not done much with in the past. This week, much like last week, we were required to do a set number of assignments rather than a certain number of stars worth. We were required to do between four and five assignments, while completing a reflection on design concepts as well as a design blitz. The first two assignments I decided to complete were a missing person poster and barcode art, both of which I integrated into our course theme by directly including Bob Ross in the assignments. My final three assignments featured me redesigning the cover of George Orwellā€™s 1984, creating a postcard for the 4077 MASH from the television show M*A*S*H, and creating a simple house in the Sims 4. All of these assignments are linked below, so please take the time to check out whichever one interests you the most! This Weekā€™s Daily Creates! This week we were required to complete three Daily Creates. There was a good variety this week, however these are the three I did because they interested me the most! Participation and this Weekā€™s Comments! This week I had the pleasure of viewing quite a few different projects. I loved seeing how everyone approached these assignments, making them their own. Here a list of different posts I visited and left comments on this week! Be sure to check them out as well as my own work! And, as always, I reply back to everyone commenting on my posts! Be sure to leave a comment and you will hear back from me! Oktoberfest! Gif Time Babee On the cover of a magazineā€¦ Gamer Zone As you wish Three More Creates KISS Logo Poetry Design The I Do Crew A Wolf in Sheepā€™s Clothing My Bob Shirt Breakfast Cereal Overall, it has been an eventful week. I had a lot of fun working on the assignments this week. Design concepts are very similar to photography concepts I have studied in the past, which was a subject I enjoy immensely. I also got to put my growing digital art skills to use for several of these assignments. I used Pixlr quite a bit this week, and also got some ideas from other peopleā€™s blogs that I think I will use in my free time or on later assignments! As always, I look forward to continuing in this class! Please be sure to check out some of the assignments I did this week if you havenā€™t already! And donā€™t forget to comment!

    Weekly Summary

    by
So after failing to do a lot of the work for last weekā€™s workload, I made up for it on this one. To date, Iā€™ve enjoyed the audio assignments more than any other type. It was cool to watch videos on audio storytelling, then dabble in it myself. The assignments, I did not find difficult...

    Spooky Soundtrack

    by
Nothing better than listening to a spooky soundtrack during the Halloween season! I did the Spooky Sounds audio assignment where you put together different spooky sounds to make one ultimate ghoulish nightmare of a soundtrack. I used Audacity and got my sounds from freesoundslibrary.com. I layered them in Audacity so that they all play at...

    ds106 Live Listening Session

    by
Unfortunately, I missed out on the live listening sessions earlier this week. From the comments Iā€™ve seen in the Discord, the audio was definitely dynamic and the ambiance of sounds told a story. I saw people describe the sounds as ominous and mysterious. One person even mentioned how the sounds moved directionally and created depth....

Week Five Was an Auditory Adventure

    by
Looking back on this week, I think learning how to use audio editing software and the various methods of audio storytelling has been some of the most fun Iā€™ve had in this class. I absolutely love music, radio, and audio dramas, so this week really spoke to me! This week was a little strange since we were not required to keep track of stars for assignments. Instead we had complete 3-4 Audio Assignments from the DS106 Assignment Bank. On top of that we had two set assignments we had to complete, including ā€œCreate A DS106 Radio Bumperā€ (which did not contribute to the assignment count) and ā€œSound Effects Storyā€ (which did contribute to the assignment count and is connected to Bob Ross). Outside of these two assignments, I also made a song of my own using GarageBand (which includes the Bob Ross approach), harmonized with myself to create a vocal song three times over (creative freedom!), and looked at a single songā€™s iterations from the 1960s to the present day. All of these assignments are linked below, as well as reflections to do with audio storytelling, DS106 radio, and my brainstorming ideas for our radio show! Please take the time to look at them if you havenā€™t already! And donā€™t forget to comment! DS106 Radio Reflection Audio Reflection Radio Bumper for Radio Fans The Painter in Peril Radio Dramas for our Radio Show! A Little Song of My Own Remakes that Define and Defy the Genre (Attempting To) Harmonize With Myself Daily Creates This week we were told to do three Daily Creates, so here they are! This post featured one of my first uses of Audacity! It was so easy to use despite the fact I had never recorded anything with it! Please give the song a listen! I had an idea similar to this about a year ago when making an HTML website for DGST 395. While I had to push that idea aside, Iā€™m happy I got to use it somewhere! I like the idea of wrecking this album (despite it being one of my favorites). Participation and Comments! I would like to remind people that I look at other peopleā€™s blogs and that I will always (always!) respond to comments on this blog. Please comment some more! I feel like nobody looks at my blog! Anyways, here is a list of blogs I visited this week and commented on. Donā€™t forget to show them some love too! Create A DS106 Radio Bumper Audio Assignment: Favorite Song Guess Whatā€™s Happening Muffled Music Itā€™s Getting On My Nerves Radio Bumper DJ Walk Style Time to Chill Get ur Polaroid! Radio Bumper Zombie Battle Sounds of a Vacation Friday = Movie Night I would like to close out this week by saying how excited I am to be doing audio assignments! Earlier this week I ordered a microphone to record assignments on. Sadly it didnā€™t come in time for me to do assignments this week, but it came earlier today and Iā€™ve been experimenting with it all afternoon! Though it was a relatively cheap microphone (I only paid $30) it sounds so much nicer than the one on my headphones! However, I didnā€™t buy it only for this class. I have two other classes outside of this one I will be making documentary style projects for and I wanted a good quality microphone to capture audio. I can also use it for online gaming since it is compatible with everything I own, which is just an added bonus! This week has been really amazing, simply because of all the audio assignments we got to work on and all the media we got to listen to! Iā€™m very excited for the upcoming radio show assignment and canā€™t wait to see everyoneā€™s ideas! Donā€™t forget to check my blog posts from this week, as well as everyone elseā€™s! And donā€™t forget to comment! Itā€™s always a joy to hear feedback!

    Reflections on Photography Assignments

    by
As Week 4 comes to an end, I look back and see how much creative thinking goes into the process of photography and digital projects as a whole. Iā€™ve been doing photography for a few years now, but have little experience on the digital side of things. This weekā€™s assignments allowed me to experiment more with digital artwork, photography, and GIFs. Hereā€™s a list of all my blog posts from this week! Please take a look at them and donā€™t forget to leave a comment! If you want to hear back from me, please leave a comment on one of my posts! I respond to all of them! Overall, this week has been amazing for me! I had a lot of fun doing these assignments since I have a lot of experience with photography before taking this class. I hope people enjoy reading my posts and learn from my own reflections on my experiences with photography. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my summary of Week Four!
