    Another Week Down

    by
Well Audio week is officially over in DS106! This was an interesting week and it was definitely very challenging. Here’s the week in review. First up was to think about what exactly audio storytelling is. This was done by reviewing old readings, videos, or stories and reflecting upon how important audio is to paint a … Continue reading Another Week Down

    American Tennis Court

    by
For this assignment (worth 3.5 stars), I had to set a dramatic reading of a song to the tune of another song. I chose to make my dramatic reading rhythmic, making it seem like more of a rap. The song I chose was American Pie by Don McLean, set to the music of Lorde’s Tennis […]

    Fantastic Four

    by
    1. Audio reflections  in this Post I reflected on the audio in storytelling. I watched the opening shots of the movie “touch of evil,” I read about sounds and film noir, and I listened to the radio broadcast “double indemnity.” I did however miss the live tweeting session with one of the radio shows. I actually didn’t … Continue reading Fantastic Four

Liam Neeson Fights for Satisfactory Customer Service

    by
For this assignment (worth 4 stars), I had to create a conversation between myself and a movie character. I used soundboard.com to find some of Liam Neeson’s lines from his movie “Taken.” I then combined these lines in Garageband with my own recorded voice to create a conversation about pizza delivery.

Week Four: Do you Hear Something?

    by
I learned a lot this week, because before now, I knew absolutely nothing about creating sound (except obviously I know how to talk). This week I found the Tweet-along to The Maltese Falcon incredibly fun, not just for the story, but to interact with people who were going through the...

    Week 4 Summary

    by
Another interesting week. I played around a bunch with Taxi Driver for my assignments this week. That was a ton of fun. I love that I was able to act out the famous “You talkin’ to me?” speech for the line remix assignment, of course substituting “me” for “him.” I also used the film’s theme … Continue reading Week 4 Summary

    NoirCatcalling

    by
For this assignment (worth 3.5 stars), I had to create a story about my character, Ami, using only sound effects. To create this, I compiled sounds from soundboard.com in Garageband. In the story, Folami is leaving her club for the night. She is walking down the street, cars passing by, when a man walks past her and wolf-whistles. […]

    Radio Show Ideas

    by
Here are some ideas I have for a 20-30 minute radio show: Fictional News Emergency - I always thought it would be entertaining (not just for the audience, but for myself) to reenact an emergency news situation and to say the famous lines “This Just in!…” and then rant about something completely random while pretending … Continue reading Radio Show Ideas

    Audio Reflection-DS106 Radio-Twitter

    by
For the listening part of understanding audio storytelling I tuned into the ds106 radio on Thursday night. We listened to two pieces, in which one was an older story and one was a newer story. When I tuned in I was a little anxious because I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything and […]

    Radio Bumper

    by
For this assignment, I had to create a bumper for DS106 Radio. Using Garageband, I created a leaning wall of dissonant noise. A simulated electric guitar then plays the opening notes of Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, a piece that I feel pairs well with many of the thematic elements of Noir. A trumpet fall […]

    Audio Storytelling

    by

We have been tasked with “discussing audio in storytelling”, a vague, possibly momentous undertaking which leaves me unsure where to begin. So rather than an ambitious explanation, I’ll just sort of keep to what I looked at/listened to, and what I think/thought. Now first off, I watched all for sections of an interview with Ira Glass, host of This American… Read more →

    Think about Audio Storytelling:Watching

    by
Watch: Touch of Evil Opening Shot and Orson Welles – Touch of Evil (1958) – opening (NO-restored version) The difference I found in the theme music and street sound  of the non no-restored was that the types of sound was distinctly different. It went from a fast, heavy beat to a steady blues, New Orleans […]

    Make it 800% Slower

Make It 800% Slower: 3 points So this was my last assignment for this week. I thought this one would be easy  to perform but for some reason it tool me a while complete due to the fact Audacity didnt want to work with me for tonight. The song I chose for this assignment was […]

    Radio Show Ideas

    by
One concept I have used for my character dossier is the Jerk with the heart of Gold concept that is conceptualized in Noir film. For a radio idea I was thinking maybe having a real Jerk with a heart gold on the show and people could call in and share experiences they have had with […]
