    week six summary!

    by
This week I learned a lot about design. I thought the Stranger Things title sequence video was specifically interesting. I also wrote about my thoughts on the Brain Pickings article here. The first assignment I completed was the DesignBlitz. I tried to find the design elements as much as I could in one area, which […]

    design thoughts

    by
This article really got me thinking about how much of what I see on a day to day basis has been designed by someone, like street signs, posters, food packaging, etc. It’s something that can easily be overlooked. People put their creativity and effort into designing these common things around us. I also thought it […]

    contradiction creation

    by
Create some sort of graphic. Design the overall graphic to convey some sort of feeling or theme, but then have text saying something completely contradictory to the theme or feeling. Sort of like one of those old anti-motivational posters, but with more design than a black box with a white frame. https://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/contradiction-creation/ I had fun […]

    Eerily Ears

    by
This assignment asked us to create a creepy sound. Being the fan of horror that I am I saw a very weird sounding chance. This was quite the challenge teaching myself garage band and audio mixing.

Daily Creates for the week! I like to work on Daily Creates so much. They are always fun creative challenges. As I said before, it just feels like a nice class activity to take part in on Twitter every week. This week we did some readings on what design is. DESIGN IS EVERYTHING! Next, we did a Design Blitz! This is our second time doing one of these types of assignments. I had a terrific time taking photos and looking … Continue reading "Sixth Weekly Summary"

    Assignments for Week Six

    by
Vogue Challenge Breakdown: I edited this photo to give it a Vogue look. I then got a Vogue logo that looked similar to the photo and added it. I wanted to give it a cool tapped on look. Create a Log that is Simple but Interesting Breakdown: I took this photo the other day after leaving my internship for the day. I then edited this text over it using a simple black and white. I thought I would do that … Continue reading "Assignments for Week Six"

    donate for parkinson’s research!

    by
Create an ad to inform people about a charity and encourage them to donate. https://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/charity-ad/ For this assignment, I created an ad for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. I used Canva, which I just learned how to use! I liked this background template that they had, so I used that, and imported […]

    Wrapping up Week 6

    by
Working with design this week was very interesting. There is design in all of our daily lives and choices. Some assignments I found more difficult than others this week, but overall I enjoyed all of my assignments. poetry art & design

    by
This is building off of the Poetry Art assignment and is an exercise how design choices can change a message. Put your selected poem together with a background that emphasizes the message. Then make 3 different versions by varying the typeface, type layout, and type color to see how it impacts the message over all. https://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/poetry-art-design/ […]

    WEEK SIX SUMMARY

    by
This week was focused on design. I have always been a fan of graphic design and especially the creative philosophy surrounding it, so I was extremely excited about the assignments for this week. First, I read Massimo Vignelli and Chip Kidd’s booklets about design and wrote a reflective blog post about what I learned. Next, […]

    Design Thoughts

    by
I really enjoyed doing this reading on all that goes into design. It is truly wild when you think about it and break it all down. EVERYTHING IS DEIGNED. We are all designers. Everything in life is deigned in some type of way even if it is unintentional. We learned based on the readings about the disciplines in which go into it all. We think about people and the way in which we live our lives. We think about emotion … Continue reading "Design Thoughts"

What Does a Nurse Researcher Do?

    by

Why Do Nurses Need Research? At the mention of a nurse, most people envision a hospital or a nursing home full of the elderly or sickly needing medical care. The truth is that nursing is a wide field that sometimes goes beyond the four walls of a hospital. A nurse researcher specializes in performing medical […]
