https://thimbleprojects.org/HTTP/lmacwha/656815/ Welcome back DS106! We are now in week nine of my digital storytelling class. This week we are working on new ways to do web storytelling. Google Draw Something

    by
This last assignment for my Web Assignment task for Week Nine was another easy assignment. I was required to complete the “Quick, Draw” from Google. For those that don’t know what Quick, Draw is, it is a site through Google where you have 20 seconds to draw 6 different objects. Google then tries to guess what each drawing is. Google guessed 5 out of my 6 drawings correctly, the only one it missed was the Hockey Stick. Each time you play Quick, Draw, there is a different, randomly selected, group of 6 objects to draw. A really fun task to do when bored! After completing the assignment, there is an option to share your results via Twitter. I did so and then embedded the tweet into this post!

    Guess the Story

    by
This assignment required me to tell a story using at least 5 gifs. I had a little trouble beginning the assignment because the link I was using to embed some of the gifs refused to work. I then decided to go about it via Twitter since all the gifs I found on giphy.com were also on there. If you click the link to my Twitter above, you can follow the gif story! The assignment required me to have the viewers guess the story, so if you haven’t seen my tweets yet, don’t read the next sentence yet! The overall story of my gifs is the story your parents would tell you growing up: don’t eat watermelon seeds or a watermelon will grow inside of you. My first gif is of a cat eating a slice of watermelon, then someone telling them not to do that (eat the seeds), then the cat (or man) is sick in bed, next is a gif of Amy Poehler pregnant (pretend it’s the watermelon), and the last gif is a woman with a watermelon slice as her skirt, but we’ll pretend she is now part watermelon. This assignment was really easy, but it forced me to be a little creative. Something that isn’t exactly one of my strong suits. However, I enjoyed the idea of telling a story through the use of gifs!

    Harness Relationships

    by
For this assignment, I had to use the Kumu organizational tool to make a relationship web. I decided to make a web based on my family tree. I made myself the main connector and then branched the web to have my mother’s family on one side and my father’s family on the other. As you can see, my mother’s side of the family is much larger than my fathers. She has more siblings and some are already married with children of their own. It was relatively easy to make the web through Kumu. I simply made an account, selected which web structure I wanted to use, and began inserting connectors. I did have some initial trouble trying to make the first element since I was in this weird tutorial version and didn’t know how to end it. However, once I started, it became easy. I then saved the web, took a screenshot of it, and uploaded it onto this blog post. I first tried to embed the web with a link through Kumu, but for some reason, it wouldn’t work. However, the image embedded here does the job! Another fun assignment with DS106!

    Weekly Summary #8

    by
This week was awesome because we were able to finally finish and post our radio show! Check it out! This show actually ended up being a lot of fun and I was able to get a feel for what an actual radio show is like! We prepped a lot for this radio show, but it was all worth it. The first week was mostly figuring out what we wanted to talk about on our show, and how we were going to split the show into segments. Here was our progress and process throughout the weeks: The preparation that took place the first week really helped set up for the second week and finally, our radio show itself. I was excited about our female secret agent theme and glad that we could incorporate more than just our class theme into the show. During this show we were able to discuss different topics within the female secret agent theme such as clothing styles, stereotypes and even incorporated a secret agent character. I am proud of our group for being able to create a show with thoughtful conversation and spread more enthusiasm about female secret agents! Overall the assignment turned out really well and I am excited to see what everyone else thinks of the show! Daily Creates: Thursday – Wood & Water! Friday – Who kidnapped Prince Charming? Overall this week went well and I am excited to see what next week brings!!
