It’s the end of the world – Instagram (well, maybe more accurately Snapchat) is down. How will I know what all of my friends are eating today? No need toContinue readingWhat’s for lunch?
The second assignment bank fortune I chose was to go to a fortune cookie generator that would generate a random fortune for you and create a story using that fortune provided. I used the website http://www.myfortunecookie.co.uk for creating a random fortune. The one I received was… What I am going to do for this story …
The assignment Letter From Out of the Blue was the first assignment that I decided to do for this week! I was so excited when I saw that this was one of the assignments that I would be able to do this week. I tend to write letters with a lot of my friends that …
For this assignment, we had to choose an emotion and then choose 3 songs that fit to that emotion and explain why. I decided to choose the emotion “happy”. I decided to only choose songs that came out in the 80s to relate it to our theme. Here are the songs I chose! Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go by Wham!–I chose this song because it is my go-to dance song and dancing is one of my favorite things to do. When I was younger, my best friend and I made up a choreographed dance for this song so this […]
For this assignment we had to come up with a haiku about a movie we’ve watched for this class. I chose to write one about The Breakfast Club because it’s a great representation of the 80s. Plus it’s one of my favorite movies. Five kids in trouble Detention on Saturday All friends in the end I focused on the fact that the main characters were all in Saturday detention and even though they were all very different, by the end of the day, they all became friends. I hope you enjoyed my haiku! PS: This was a 1-star assignment..2.5-stars to […]
Dear Mama, Thank you for the countless hours you spend doing everything from making my lunch to making sure you’re there when I need a shoulder to cry on. You have always been my number one supporter throughout everything I do in life. You love me unconditionally, even when I am being the absolute worst. There is nothing I could do to repay you for all you’ve done for me. I’m sure having a child with Type 1 diabetes was not in your plan but you sure as hell have raised me to be the best version of myself, despite […]
WARNING: There are spoilers. I suggest that you watch the movie, then compare with my review. If you are someone who is into fast cars, live-action stunts, guns and chaos, this movie may be for you. 6 Underground, a movie directed by the famous movie director, Michael Bay, is probably my favorite Netflix original of … Continue reading "6 Underground – A Netflix Original Review"
**Spoilers Ahead** Before I go and see a movie, I always look to see the reviews. Is the film worth spending 30 bucks at the movie theater? Or is itContinue readingPsyched for Psycho
This week’s assignment, A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words, requires you to take a picture and write a backstory behind it, since we don’t always know the context behindContinue readingDescribing an Indescribable Picture
This assignment required me to find a bunch of newspaper headlines and make a story with them. I decided to use only the UMW newspapers, and, keeping with the theme, only headlines from the 80s! Here is the story I came up with! I was actually able to do this with only one modification to […]
For my next Assignment Bank, I chose to do Never Fear — It’s Words of the Year (2 stars), which is very similar–if not, identical–to one of the Daily Creates I did. However, instead of focusing on my birth year, I wanted to tie this one to our 80s theme, and I chose the year […]
An analysis of The Princess Bride This week, I decided to watch something that I have never seen before. Well, I have seen the Princess Bride, but it has beenContinue readingInconceivable!
For this assignment we had to come up with a haiku about ourselves. Here it is! My name is Sam Price (5) I like hiking and biking (7) I play frisbee too (5) Since this post was so short I decided to include a picture of me hiking that goes along with my poem. I hope you enjoyed my poem and were able to learn a little more about me! PS: This assignment was worth 2.5 points…7.5 left for the week!
I remember when I was younger, my best friend, Kay, and I would constantly be coming up with bucket lists for us to complete. I actually still have a few of the ones we made tucked away somewhere at my parents house. Kay and I would spend all of our free time checking items off our list until we completed the list and had to start a new one. I chose this assignment because I thought it would be fun to reminisce on my childhood and also to come up with a new list for me to try and accomplish […]
The first assignment that I chose for this week but wanted to give it an 80’s twist was to write a letter to yourself in 10 years hoping what your job is like, life, and family, and how you see that your life would turn out. I think that this goes good with the 80’s …
One clever assignment I found was to create a bucket list of at least five things you want to do in your life. I felt like this assignment was callingContinue readingThings to do Before I Die
As I was reading “I link, therefore I am” by Zacharias Szumer, I came across a particular quote that got me a little fired up (and not in a necessarily positive way): Videogame sales have outstripped box office receipts and home video and theatre earnings for over a decade. The problem is that we often […]
“Why don’t we write each other love poems? / Look at me collapse into babysobs and bare need, me, / sturdy and self-sufficient.” “Inevitable Postcards” Ellen Doré Watson This (two star, written) assignment required me to share a quote I’ve read and explain why it interests me. I have always really enjoyed this quote, how […]
What I learned this week: Many things are not what they seem. I can be a hero. It is easy to forget about what is ‘invisible’. And like the aliens in They Live, digital images and arts are all around … Continue reading →
In my time living in Fredericksburg, Virginia, I haven’t actually taken time to pick apart its beauty. It’s a large, historic city that hugs the rough Rappahannock River. It is filled with welcoming neighbors who, unlike many cities, actually make an effort to acknowledge your presence. Its downtown restaurants excite the inner foodie in me. … Continue reading "Another Day…"

I decided to rewatch one of my favorite movies, Sixteen Candles, for this week’s assignment of exploring storytelling in the 80s. It follows Samantha “Sam” Baker on her 16th birthday. Sam goes through lots of negative events on her birth day including her parents forgetting her birthday and loosing her sex quiz that says she’s a virgin and saving herself for her love interest, Jake. In the end, everything works out. Sam gets the guy and gets her birthday cake. While watching the movie I kept thinking about the video by Kurt Vonnegut called “The Shape of Stories”. It was […]
