    More about Jaws

    by
3 Interesting Continuity Mistakes made in the movie: 1. When Chrissy’s body is found on the shore, it has been severely damaged by the shark attack, but is still mostly intact. When Hooper does his autopsy, there are far less bodily remains than were found on the beach. 2. At the town meeting, there are two shots of the reward sign posted by Mrs Kintner. The sign in the second shot is not the same as the sign in the previous shot, the handwriting is different. 3. When Quint is hauling in the rope from the first barrel and the shark appears suddenly, he jerks back in surprise and still … Continue reading

Many times the viewers of the movie don’t know or understand the details that go into making a movie. However, you can easily find these interesting facts through wikipedia or imdb. 300 Spartans, In Pieces.

    by
Well not in pieces… (spoiler) …Yet. This week we were asked to take a scene from a famous movie and analyse it in 3 different steps. Visual Only. So turn down the volume and enjoy the visuals. In this clip they switched camera views like 20 times in the first 2 mins of the clip, It was a little absurd and was starting to make me dizzy. I thought the “Graphic Novel” style of lighting, because the movie was based off of a graphic novel,  was interesting. When there is an Obvious “Silent” part where they pan into the different sects of people in the society in really makes you think… what about I … Continue reading

    Reading into Movies O.o

    by
I really enjoyed reading, Roger Ebert’s “How to Read a Movie” it gave me great insight and motivation for this week. I found the bit about a two-shot most interesting: “the person on the right will “seem” dominant over the person on the left. I watched the following 5 videos, “To get an appreciation for some of the power of cinematic techniques,” Some were funny while others were just flat-out informative(: Top 20 Cinematic Techniques http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3EnnBDgMwwI am glad that I watched this one first. I really liked that they labeled each scene in the sense of telling me exactly what to look for. Camera Angles and Techniques http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jURepXxuiGEThis video was interesting. The … Continue reading

Also, I have already had some practice with MPEG StreamClip, with the my first GIF assignment, to get the clip off Youtube. I love this software and find it VERY useful (: I have an example of the Windows Movie … Continue reading

Exploring the Movie – Training Day

    by
So the clips I chose to watch and write about are from the movie Training Day. From the IMDb page, as well as other pages(I have the sources on the same paper with notes that I lost…FRUSTRATION) I found out that Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke actually talked and followed around undercover police, gang members, AND DRUG DEALERS! Really? They are allowed to deal drugs and actors can go to them so they can play the part better, but we can’t take them off of the streets? Interesting and silly at the same time. Another thing I learned was that the movie was filmed in some gang-run neighborhoods. One of … Continue reading

Look, Listen, Analyze – Training Day

    by
Okay, so to be honest, I’m BEYOND pissed right now because I can’t find the notes that I wrote while watching The assignment this week was to play this clip 3 times; First with video, no volume. Second with audio, no video. Lastly put them together and catch anything you didn’t notice the first time. Since I lost my notes, you’re going to need to bear with me….(If I find my notes, I will make a whole new post the way I originally wanted it.) First watch – I noticed in the beginning that the camera angles changed fast and focused on different things during the action sequence. As the … Continue reading
