    DS106 Radio

    by
I tuned in one Wednesday at 8pm for the final ds106 radio session for the week. It was really cool and interesting to hear some of my classmate’s radio bumpers. Shoutout to Emily who said ‘Nights’ by Frank Ocean was your favorite song in your bumper, it’s one of my favorites too. Listening to the ...

For this particular assignment, I would like to present you with my artistic short song! This website has many different small, colorful interactive music activities that you can develop fun ideas through. For this assnment I had to create a song, my specialty! You can choose from many different options. First I made my chords to go behind a melody. As a musician, I can depict that this is built off of two major scales so I have a few built different chord structures that will flow together. Then I made a percusive rythmn to give it more texture. After this, I made an interesing melody to go with everything. Which created this: https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Song-Maker/song/4604593824071680 I throughoughly enjoed this assignment and I hope you will love it as well!

As I was looking through the possible assignments for this week, I stumbled across one that was a challenge to better speaking skills. This is something that felt valuable to me and my future. As a future educator, I will be speaking every day. I know that I always talk too fast when I present … Continue reading Pretending I am Running A Ted Talk…

“Now that we have a #ds106 radio up and running creating a 15 to 30 second bumper for the station. What is a bumper? It is a short recording that identifies the radio station with signature music or an expression that makes sure the listeners know what they are tuned into (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bumper_(broadcasting)). Use at least five different sounds that you find online. The story can be no longer than 90 seconds. Another example (by a UMW student): http://ds106.us/wp-content/audio/audio_story.mp3“ Sound […]

Sounds Impact the Effect of Stories – Audio Reflection

    by
After listening to Moon Graffiti, I was really astounded with everything that I heard and the emotional effect that this had on me. Abrumad’s perspective that he offers in his videos also illustrate the idea that audio work can help a listener dive deeper into the story and feel more of a part of it. … Continue reading Sounds Impact the Effect of Stories – Audio Reflection

    “Neil, You Gotta Hear This”

    by
I have dabbled in listening to audio storytelling, meaning basically that I have listened to almost all of the Magnus Archives, and sometimes Trixie and Katyas’ Bald and the Beaufiful podcast, but Moon Graffiti was completely different. Moon Graffiti somehow managed to create a world out of sounds. It was the opposite of a silent […]

    Week 5 Summary

    by
Audio Storytelling Reflection As a history nerd, I loved listening to the “Moon Graffiti” episode. That was such a great way to tell stories, and to make these stories come to life. As I was listening, I got literal chills from their use of narration and sound effects/music. I am definitely going to check out ...

    Out of this World

    by
I used the Song Maker in Chrome Music Labs to make this short clip of a song: https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Song-Maker/song/5467698036736000 I started of by just making a face in the middle of the song, which ended up creating some pretty good chords, added a squiggling percussion track, and then added some decently satisfying intro and outro chords. …

As usual, this week was another exciting, creative, and incredible experiences in this class. Graphic design is a passion of mine, especially when it comes to logo design and creating flyers and posters.
