    Weekly Creations

    by
This week we had a busier daily create project with a total of 3 daily creates to choose from. there are some pretty interesting ideas that were offered this week. The First Daily Create I did on Monday was to take a picture of wide open spaces. I took this picture while visiting Wyoming and I believe this is The Great Tetons, if it’s not the mountains them self it’s in the same area, it was a pretty interesting picture because the bottom half of it got messed up some how and flipped positions… don’t ask me how this happened but I thought it was interesting. On Wednesday the project was … Continue reading

    Creative Commons

    by
Creative Commons appears to be a type of movement allowing editors, etc to build upon already published media that is fully copyrighted; changing from all-rights-reserves to some-rights-reserved. Becoming a part of  creative commons gives others that authority to elaborate on … Continue reading

The Prompt: Draw a tribute album cover by reimagining one of from your favorite band. Yikes! Body forms are not my forte, but I still love me some Red Hot Chili Peppers. I have more albums from them than I’d care to admit online.

    Gettin’ Giffy With It

    by
Remember when I was in my ARTS104: Digital Approaches to Art and had to have my own umwblog? I made GIFs in Creative Suite 5, I believe, and they were short GIFs from photos I had taken on a hike. Content here: Click to see full-sized, non-warped version. There’s something peaceful and yet beautifully frightening ... Continue Reading

    Bootcamp accomplished!

    by
This week I chose to do the following daily creates:   First, Monday’s daily create of a photo showing the great outdoors, I took this photo last October when my entire family stayed in a beautiful cabin for the weekend. I snapped this from the front porch, I was in love with the view. I ...

    Immaturity at it’s finest

    by
My assignment was to make a gif from my favorite movie. My favorite movie of all time is Uptown Girls… I need to watch it again soon actually. Uptown girls is a movie about a woman that needs to grow up and a kid that needs to learn how to have fun, and how they help each other understand the world. This gif is a few clips from the ending, a dance recital where Ray (Dakota Fanning, who I feel like grew up really quickly between this movie and twilight) does a dance dedicated to Molly (Brittany Murphy). Some back story: Molly’s dad was a rock star that died in ...

    Creative Commons: Some Rights Reserved

    by
So, my latest assignment for DS106 was the figure out what Creative Commons are… I started my research the same way most students these days would, googling (which I hear is considered an actual verb now) “Creative Commons.” The first site I found was CreativeCommons.org, perfect! So, I learned first that all work you produce automatically has an “all rights reserved” copyright, meaning if other people would like to use that work they must gain explicit permission. In some cases creators do want “all rights reserved,” but on the internet many people want to share their ideas and see how others can add, improve, or just make use of those ...

Give credit where credit is due.

    by
The first thing I did to research Creative Commons was simply google it. This immediately led me to creativecommons.org. Creative commons is a non-profit organization that allows you to share your creative works using free, legal licenses.  On their about page I watched a video  entitled Wanna Work Together? that really helped put creative commons ...

    Summarization #2

    by
So I survived the first week  of Bootcamp! The daily creates this week were really cool! I loved all three of mine that I did: This first one is of a wide open space. It is at a family river house on the Rappahannock. I think the view is gorgeous, especially with the rainbow across ...

Scene: Dumbledore falling after Snape Kills him. Movie: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince First off, I’d like to thank Jim Groom for his awesome tutorial which made the process of making a GIF go ever so smoothly. It was step-by-step with screenshots and links to all the cool software(Fastest Youtube Downloader, MPEG Streamclip, GIMP) to use. I would recommend everyone to check it out, whether you’re in DS106 or just making GIFs for fun! As for my clip, not only is this one of my favorite movies, but it is from my favorite SERIES of movies. Harry Potter has been a part of my life since 1999 when The … Continue reading

WTF is a GIF? Annie wants to show you!

    by
I had no clue what a GIF was before this assignment. At first I found this assignment extremely intimidating, but once reading Jim Groom’s tutorial on how to make a GIF a few times I felt like I was ready to give it a try. The first thing I did was download all the software ...

So this has nothing to do with anything, except that is it INCREDIBLE and turns my brain into a puddle of delighted sensory goo: Also, this: I have no idea why this happens, only that I’ve read it happens to other people too (especially non-neurotypical individuals, and this is the only type of music I ...

Exactly what it says on the tin

Today’s Daily Create assignment was to capture a spinning object, something with motion-blur or frozen in its spin. I have a thing that was made for spinning. Literally. Here’s a spinning spindle: Okay, not exactly my most inspired title, but they can’t all be winners. In all honesty I’m getting quite frustrated with my current ...

    Time Spun Slowly In Wait

Prompt: Take a photograph of a spinning object frozen in motion or blurred. (Note: I was kind of sad that I wasn’t the only person who thought of time being frozen via an analog clock.  Whoopsies!)

    LLAMA FACE

    by
Our assignment this week was to create an animated gif image that showcased part of a favorite (or least favorite) movie. If this works, I’m going to build MYSELF a summer home on top of an ancient Peruvian village.                     HOLY LLAMA FACE BATMAN, IT LIVES! ...

    Let’s Work Together!

I have never really heard of a creative commons, So as I started researching I decided to go straight to the source, creativecommons.org. I figured that was the best source to get the most legitimate information. It told me the best way to introduce myself to this subject was to watch this video:     ...
