    Create through the crap

    by
I LOVED having the chance to listen to Ira Glass discuss his early work in radio, and then hear an example of how stilted and awkward he was even eight years into the business. What he said about beginning any creative endeavor with good taste, about knowing that the work you’re producing isn’t up to ...

Talk about getting Visual, a Week of Photography (Week5Summary)

    by
DS106 Week 5 HAS BEEN MY FAVORITE WEEK SO FAR I love visual week!!! To start off the week there were a list of “Photography Tips.” I enjoyed reading them; however, since I had multiple classes of photography during highschool nothing was real new to me. I think that the photos I have submitted for this class prove that I already have some tips under my belt when it comes to lighting, position, coloring, etc. I also love using online sources for editing my photos also. (: Next was the PhotoBlitz challenge! I loved this assignment for this week! Next is my Flickr Blog Post! Check it out! Next is … Continue reading

It’s Monday. This means I was looking through the Week 5 Assignments, writing them down, and mapping out my DS106 week. When I was reading the summary, I came across in the daily creates to try and submit your own. This was so cool to me! I had no idea you could add to the ...

    Listening to Stories: RadioLab- Space

    by
I picked to listen to RadioLab’s Space episode for this listening/reflection assignment. Here is the link: http://www.radiolab.org/2007/oct/22/ . I found a few things interesting while listening to this episode. Firstly, the radio workers on RadioLab do a fantastic job of using underlying sounds while telling a story. Many times there is music or a subtle yet noticeable sound cruising ...

    5 Sound Story

    by
I had fun with this assignment as well. It look a little bit of maneuvering concerning how to time each sound, and what sounds would be effect when underlain. It also took some time browsing www.freesound.org  for sounds relating to the story I wanted to portray. It isn’t anything out of the ordinary, or super spectacular, ...

    DS106 Radio Bumper

    by
DS106 radio bumper I found this assignment a ton of fun because I got to try my hand at creating a bumper, or short audio clip designed for radio shows, in order to remind listeners of the station, and in my opinion, to reach out to listeners and emphasize the greatness and uniqueness of the ...

    Daily Creates: Week Four

    by
TDC 253: Create a sound clip that plays a song backwards, with a 3 second silence, then followed by the short original clip. For this Daily Create, I thought to use a Dance song that I really love to listen to called No Beef. It was a cool chance to tool around with a hip ...

    A Month In

    by
Key points of audio storytelling: http://melindakumi.com/2012/09/22/story-craft-audio-style/ This wasn’t as fun as I thought it would be, but it was sure informative!  Let me tell you why:  I used to listen to Garrison Keillor on The Writers Almanac everyday for my sophomore and junior years of high school.  I sporadically listened to A Prairie Home Companion.  It ...

    My First Lantern Floating Festival

    by
I have never been to a lantern floating festival, although it has been a growing trend in my home city for quite some years now.  I watched a program on TV for Memorial Day and I was quite mesmerized like I am every year.  This sound story is how I imagine a festival would be for me. ...

    Turn It Up To 11

    by
This is the end of Week 4? Holy cow have I been busy, I feel like I’m halfway through the semester with all the work I’ve been putting into my classes! It’s Sunday night and I still have to meet a group to do an audio recording for Spanish(hey it’s audio week everywhere!) and study for a geography test! Note to self: Do not wait until Sunday to finish DS106…or any class for that matter. And also, give yourself a break soon! Week 4 was our introduction to audio. Audio storytelling, using sound effects, creating bumpers, so on and so forth. So without further ado, I present my work for … Continue reading
