(Beginning) Chell woke up and there was a little robot ball who said he could help her escape this horrible place. 1. (Purple) Together they adventured through this facility and have a good old laugh while they try to bring down the evil tyrant who controlled it, GLaDOS, they replaced all of her evil mechanisms with defective weapons so in their final show down she had no evil mechanisms to fight with. 2. (red) In order for them to escape Chell put the machine ball thing in control. 3. (Blue) But when he gained control he became consumed with power and so he made GLaDOS a Potato and threw Chell … Continue reading

    Downer

    by
The preset alarms on my boyfriends phone… the earliest of which is 4:30am, yes AM. Whenever I stay at his house and he has to work the next day I wake up at ungodly hours of the mornings when he has to go to work. It’s especially infuriating when I’m getting off work at midnight. Done for Monday’s dailycreate. Things which I miss, the good old days of high school playing Dungeons and dragons with my friends till the wee hours of the night… it’s not bad being up at 4:30am when you’ve been playing D&D all night. Friday we were given the prompt to create a close up picture … Continue reading

Story Based On Someone Else’s Daily Creates

    by
Photo by “HoboWhale” -TDC 246 Photo by gracek003 -TDC 248 It was an aggravating day for HoboWhale, for he woke up late for his comedy show, resulting in his tardiness to the show. This did not make his colleagues very happy. The show went on, but HoboWhale did not feel like his usual funny self. ...

    Photos in the Future

    by
If a picture is worth a thousand words a picture of a picture must be worth 1 million. This is such a strong yet simple image and the photographer has done an amazing job here and it really does tell a story. This post was entitled “Return to the scene of the crime” and was found on the ds106 IN[SPIRE] site. The original photo is of a young woman and what we can assume is her boyfriend sitting by a beautiful fountain outside a building. They are happy together and it seems to be a nice day. The photo is old as is evident by the wear around the edges of the photo which … Continue reading

    Week 3=Completed

    by
At the beginning of the week we had to describe what storytelling meant to us and how the word digital being added to the beginning of storytelling can change the meaning.  Below is a link to the blog. http://ashstegemiller.com/wordpress/2012/09/13/storytelling/ Once … Continue reading

    in[SPIRE]-ing DS106 work

    by
Hey DS106! I want to take some time to talk about a piece of work from past DS106′er Linda3Dots! Her and another past DS106′er actually came up with the idea of creating a site that could feature many different works from the community. These works were ones that people chose because they Inspired them. The famous http://inspire.ds106.us/ site ...

    Week 3- Easier and Easier

    by
Week three, done. Whew. This week has actually been slightly challenging. Between my other classes (ugh, spanish), work (new job! woo), and taking care of a 10 week old puppy (awwww), it’s hard to find time to do all of this stuff.. BUT I GOT IT DONE! Woot. What is storytelling? Well I tell you HERE. My ideas on storytelling haven’t changed since I wrote that blog post. I doubt they will change. I still think that eventually, telling stories for pleasure/fun will be obsolete. Kurt Vonnegut. Fantastic. He was humorous which made his video that much more entertaining. His explanation of the shapes of stories was fascinating. I never … Continue reading

    Gathered Around the Fire…

    by
… the crackle of the wood as the flames begin to consume the fresh cut oak longs thrown in the pit that cold night. The air is fresh with a slight nip to it, the sky is clear and the moon lays down a silver light all around. We sit on rocks and fallen trees placed around the stone circle entrapping the dancing flames within, gathered close to the radiating heat they create. An older gentleman begins to speak with a strong rhythmic tone which entrances all those who have gathered. His words fill the night with images of adventure and heroism, treasures and battle, humor and horror. He claims them … Continue reading

people are gonna hate me. I just noticed that I’m kind of critical when it comes to commenting on blogs.  I’m really sorry. A Whole New World… (WeeklySummary3)

    by
WOW! This week has flown by! The work we were required to do this week was mostly fun! I had a blast and enjoyed myself(: The first obstacle I tackled this week was a write-up post on what [digital]storytelling means to me. You can find that blog post/write-up RIGHT HERE!! I had a good time coming up with the title, I hope you have a good laugh (: I think my opinion on storytelling has remained the same, I think it’s just been slightly broaden to the effects of bringing the “coolness” factor to the table (: Next, I was asked to watch Kurt Vonnegut on the Shapes of Stories, … Continue reading
